View Full Version : ZP Chat Button?

There is no longer a ZP chat button on the front page of the site. I am assuming that this is intentional; the last time it wasn't there was after a rollback in info. and it pointed to Smash's chat client. This time, there is just no longer a button.

My question is, why get rid of the button? The #zeropaid p2pchat is unofficial, but does not reflect poorly in any way on the site as a whole. It is just a place for posters to interact in real time. Why limit the interactions of the posters on the site to have a common real-time place to meet and create community?

I invite rational debate on this. Time and time again I read comments and generalizations posted by Sephiroth based on events that occured almost a year ago. The chat is a fun place to meet each other and talk. I invite people to come to the chat and see what it is like firsthand, not to just generalize what they believe to be the case.

Chat is a constantly changing abstraction. It changes by the people that interact in the room and what they bring with them and therefore its state is ephemeral by definition and difficult to pigeonhole since it is ever-changing. Condemnation of chat is silly, since these same people that criticize its state can change it through their inclusion.

Make some friends posters, check out the chat:

Your assumptions that i have anything to do with this is completely wrong because i have nothing to do with it. Everything i posted in the past was accurate and not a generalization which i bet not much has changed either. Anyways brining that up is pointless because it happened a long time ago so it doesnt effect things one way or anything and i think its pathetic, and yet again im being blamed for chat which is not my responisbility or my problem.

I heard that it was because CJ kept hacking computers of people that went in there. lol.

I dunno I hope they put it back. I have real fun in there talking to other members and discussing issues. Nothing to bad is being said about anyone. We don't flame about the site we just have lifes discussions and debates on politics which usually can't happen on the forums. So why take our only way to do that away?

who removed it?

Consider chat as a free tech support for the forums and site in general. You can only lose something by removing the only link to it. ;-)

yet again im being blamed for chat which is not my responisbility or my problem.

You have time and time again referred to the people that use chat in a negative manner... talking about them as though they were a "chat mob" with vested interests against the site, when in fact the people that use the chat are just the ordinary members of the site and others that join them. Your current words are a thin veil that you are using to obscure your antipathy for the chat. I am sure that you and the other mods have talked about the chat in your "crib" in a less than positive light. More than likely the removal of a link is due to comments made in this invisible place.

If Sephiroth is not involved, I would like to know why the link was removed. I cannot think of a good reson for it to have disappeared.

The link was temporally removed due to some reconstruction on the homepage. The link will return somewhere I am just not sure where.

Seph was not involved with this one bit. If you want to attack his character, take it somewhere else. If you want to comment on a mods ability to do his/her job, post a thread in the site feedback rather then cluttering my boards with information not relating to a thread.

However, I do respect everyone's opinion on the matter and i will take it into consideration.

ok, enough for now.

The crib is a private forum for moderators only and i dont believe you have ever had access to it so how you claim to know what goes on there is troubling. Leaking out info which its pretty clear from your post that someone who had access has done is unethical and wrong.

Well, i was thinking about settling down into the IRC command bunker yet again, and planning an even more EVIL scheme to overthrow the minions of ZP. Since my Commrade in "arms" from the Alpha Team Moony and Wingnut have been AWOL for a while, i am thinking of calling in the reserves from Tango Bravo team. Shit, i said too much already...........

Viva la revolution!!!!!

In all seriousnes, good to know it is only a glitch.

Jorge, I've got news for you, you in some ways hinder the mods abilities to do his/her job. As of 1-27-04 we lost control over news comments. I've voiced my complaints in various parts of the boards, INCLUDING the news mod section. Still no reply.

I still get PM's from people who are confused over the news sections. I've posted the changes I think need to be made, and the other news mods agree with me. Its simple 5 minute stuff, just fix it please!

No it was not all members there might have been a bug with the news and program mods. Just because of a bug doesnt give you or anyone else who had temporary access the right to leak out private conversations to anyone you felt like.

NExt time wingnut, jump on the bandwagon when you want to attack seph.. These little retaliations, and one on one fight will get you no where.. But dont worry wingnut.. we wont nail you on the cross and crusify you for it.. And if anyone says anything to you about this, just tell them Jesus already forgave you for your sins.. =)

The problem is that you referenced things that were a bit too accurate to be just speculating, so its clear that someone did leak out information to you.

Let me remind any of people who may have had temporary access to the crib because of a bug or whatever when they werent suppose too. That leaking out information that was not suppose to be made public, when caught will result in being permanently banned.

Which its not like they can hide because its not a whole lot of people, and all but a few already know of the previous paragraph. So if i wanted too i could probably find out one way or another and is this was alot more serious then i would. But im confident that whoever probably disclosed alot more and will be found out over time one way or another.

If anyone were to post it, it would be a going away present anyway seph.

Don't worry seph. I don't need to post the material. Goodbye Zeropaid members! Or, at least the one's that do not participate in chat, or other places, such as beatking.

Yes as you can see ken and others remember and they have no news or program mod status. and anyway this was before I was Program mod. This was i believe late late summer. But I could be wrong. And I swear I leaked no information of the stuff i saw which I didnt really care to see much.

But when the first bug happened a friend of mine (which is just a ordinary member) took screen shots and showed me the stuff that is being said that made me sick to my stomach.

Nice day.

Seph A LOT of people know what was said, who said it and who thinks what of who. Including me. Threatening to ban people who you cannot control (AGAIN) is not going to get you anywhere.

And I agree with yoda on this one (WOW) it was sickening to see how certain people spoke of members behind their backs.

Seph: Don't go jumping to conclusions like that... it's not fair in any way whatsoever. Think about it for a little bit and you can narrow down your list of "suspects"... and you'll realize that Ken is nowhere near that list.

I dont care what you, yodashady, or anyone else who saw private conversations feel about the discussions. Because again they were not public discussions meant for those members or anyone else without the access to see.

Just because a mod might have suspicions of another member its better to discuss that with other moderators and to try to see if there is any truth rather than go around randomly accusing everyone all the time which is the only alternative which would only cause flaming and would be very unproductive and inefficient.

If some people have their feelings hurt then sorry they saw it but i dont regret anything one bit.

2) Jorge & Dub have both posted support for Seph's forum moderation.
3) Go read the forum rules. You will notice that we have recently re-done them. None of you need to get in trouble for arguing what is a dead point if the admins disagree with you.
