Akonix L7 Enterprise to Support Microsoft ISA Server 2004; Integration Work to Help ISA Server 2004 Customers Deploy Advanced Policy and Security Features for Instant Messaging Traffic
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2004--Akonix Systems Inc., the leading developer of enterprise-wide, instant messaging (IM) management software, today announced plans to support Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 when it is available later this year.
ISA Server 2004, currently available for public beta at http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver/beta, is an advanced application layer firewall, VPN and Web cache solution that enables customers to easily maximize existing IT investments by improving network security and performance.
Akonix plans to use the application-layer filtering capabilities of ISA Server 2004, currently in public beta, to direct all instant messaging traffic to Akonix's award-winning L7 Enterprise IM gateway. This is important because unmanaged public IM can expose enterprises and users to substantial security, legal and compliance issues.
With L7 Enterprise, organizations can implement usage policies, content filtering, virus scanning, logging and compliance programs for all authorized IM users, ensuring safe, secure and productive use of IM.
"Akonix L7 Enterprise will give ISA Server 2004 customers complete control over public IM as an extension of their existing ISA Server implementation," said Peter Shaw, CEO of Akonix Systems. "This relationship demonstrates our commitment to supporting industry-leading firewalls like ISA Server 2004."
"Organizations are recognizing that IM management should be an important consideration in their overall security and messaging infrastructure," said David Gardner, business development manager in the security business and technology unit at Microsoft Corp. "Akonix L7 Enterprise in tandem with ISA Server 2004 can help to deliver a compelling solution to address this issue."
Akonix introduced firewall integration as a deployment methodology for IM management and currently provides similar integration between Akonix L7 Enterprise with Microsoft ISA Server 2000. Akonix is also an authorized ISV for the MSN Connect for Enterprises program and supports Microsoft Live Communications Server 2003. For information on Akonix, visit www.akonix.com.
