AVG has always done the job for me. There are also some online virus scans that I've heard are good. I'm sure people will point you the right way.
Just out of interest, what programs don't you like and why?

AVG is a nice free antivirus, and it can be found here.

That said always use an online virus scan as a backup.

Viking Anti Virus (http://www.vikingop.com/(cvvq43z2ypi2kbawfcpwryr4)/catalogSku.aspx?ID=X107&PR=*&FMID=&TYPE=&xref1=SDQDEAL&xref2=&iref1=&iref2=)- a professional tool that will effectively stop the propagation of virii. Cut your phone-cord for only $ 1.59. If you're more of an alpha-male type, this tool (http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&langId=-1&catalogId=4006970&PHOTOS=on&TEST=Y&productId=36321&categoryId=1494) will do the job just as well - at a steeper price though.

Theres one way to totally rid your computer of viruses forever.
Keeping the computer on follow these steps for virus free computers.
[This tutorial is shareware if you are going to use it please send 5 dollars to my paypal accout]
1-Open up the case with the computer on
2-Mix 3/4ths alcohol 1/4 water solution and apply generously on the hard drives, ram, and processor, about 1 gallon or so.
3-Disconnect the hard drives IDE cable while the power is still on,open the hard drive, take a small sharp knife and run the edge of the blade against the rotation of the hard drive to scrap it of any viruses.
4-Apply more alcohol, close the hard drive lid.
4-Next let the computer dry for a while, throw a towel there while trying to avoid electrocution and close the case with the towel packed nicely inside.
5-Let the computer run for about 40 minutes before you use it again.
6-Download AVG Anti-Virus or Avast Antivirus, there good as new.
**If the computer does not work after you have done the following steps, do it over and over again untill it works**
It is good to do this on a monthly basis, keeps it running smoothly.

I'm running avast right now and have been happy with it cause it got some malware that norton didn't. Its also free. Has anyone compared Avast and AVG, which is better?
