I just recently got a minidisc player and I have been making minidiscs of the "entire works" of certain artists and bands and stuff, and of course I don't have every CD of my favorite artists so does anyone know of a P2P program where you can find a lot of complete CDs to get some that I am missing?

while the reccomendations you get for this question might be as unique as the users that supply them, here is a list of apps that i have found good for whole CDs:

Soulseek - search for the CD, use allmusic.com to verify all the songs are there, then right click > download directory
Direct Connect (++?) - same steps as soulseek
IRC - good for archived (zip, rar, tar) CDs. use packetnews.com or ircspy.com to search for packets
bittorrent - not a good idea to use this for RIAA controlled music. search for files with suprnova.org and isohunt.com

I have found emule to be great for large files like full albums. Download them as winzip or winrar files then uncompress to your hd. Check here for helpful setup tips http://www.slyck.com/edonkey2k.php?page=3

Easy question: Obvious answer

Use the edonkey network. This means choosing a compatible client. The three main ones are eDonkey2000, eMule and Overnet....I wrote the following yesterday in response to a similar query so here is a cut and paste reply:

"you can download the files by using one of the clients on the edonkey network, the main ones being Overnet (serverless, very fast), eMule (open source and currently by far the most popular, server based, not so fast), or eDonkey2000 (hybrid connects to server and serverless clients so ultimately will find the most sources/rarest files. Speed similar to eMule).
If you choose Overnet or eDonkey2000 be aware that there is optional spyware in the installation package, just choose a custom install and decline to install the optional software. I don't know what kind of PC you are using but Overnet uses less system resources than the other two. If you choose eMule or eDonkey be aware you may need to run them for several hours before there is any great activity. All are the kind of clients which benefit from running 24/7. Overnet starts downloading and uploading almost immediately so is more suitable in situations where you can't leave your PC on 24/7. IMHO Overnet is currently the outstanding p2p client."

Of course if you are looking for full CDs to compress to Minidisc then you don't want MP3/Ogg/MPC etc....you should be looking for APE format. APE is a lossless compression encoder, you'll either need to download the codec from Monkeys Audio (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/) or use an application such as Easy CD-DA Extractor which supports the format straight out of the box. If all goes well this is what will happen: you search for the music you like with the edonkey client search format, i.e search for "smash mouth eac ape" or search forums like fileheavan.org or musicdonkey.org for eac (Exact Audio Copy- the best audio ripper) ape releases. Typically you download the CD in the form of a rar archive, extract the archive which usually gives you a cue file and an APE file, and use Easy CD-DA or Monkeys Audio to decompress the file back to a wav. file...then burn the image and you have a CD identical to the original.

On the other hand you could just buy an ipod and download mp3.

soulseek, winmx (with opennap servers), audiognome, are all good for full cd`s/albums. winmx and audiognome have been amazing lately for the variety of full cd and album files that have been available. some websites rock for full cd`s/albums as well...allofmp3, grammy.ru...

have fun....
