I'm living in Canada. But say the RIAA or MPAA wants to sue me, but I live in a different country, they don't have jurisdiction here, so does that mean they can't sue me?

I have been monitered by BAYTSP.com according to my blocklists on protowall and Peerguardian. Should I be worried?

I'm not sure. You wouldnt directly be in trouble with the United States RIAA, or the US MPAA, although you could potentially be with the Canadian MPAA and RIAA. Our MPAA/RIAA keep logs of who shares what. If those same mp3's/movies are copyrighted in Canada, which they usually are, you could be in trouble, as these organizations most likely share information. And since Canada and the US have good relations, this is likely. For instance, if you were in Iraq, no one would give a damn what you shared, but your in an allied country.

But don't be paranoid as Shawners suggests, because no one has gotten in trouble for movies in Canada, and I dont think any thing has turned out bad for music in Canada, yet. But there was that one thing with yalls' music industry. But I didn't really look into that much, as I live down here.

Now apparently you should be worried. The CRIA is on the loose, in similar fashion to the RIAA.

i wouldnt be particularly concerned, but the CRIA (canadian recording industry association) has recently asked the courts to force ISPs to release IP addresses of infringers (to be decided March 14 i think). They are going after 29 kazaa users with over 500 songs shared, a good chunk of which has to be canadian music. I wouldnt worry too much about BayTSP though, because they are using Media Sentry to track infringers.

no dont worry , its like saying a new york police man can arrenst someone in new jersey , im in criminal justice and im pretty sure that is the truth BUT!!! agencies can share info with other agencies to help crack down on a crime

Just be more cautious on networks take extra measures to protect yourself from the CRIA. If they do go on a sueing spree make sure your not one of the ones being prosucuted

CRIA, or as i like to call them. CREEAAA.. they cant do a damn thing to you unless your sharing. As well as other countries cant.. But say your friends over in russia have a site for you to download and you can share with.. =)
