View Full Version : Emule low ID - how do I configure port 4662?

I began using emule a few days ago and seem to have incredibily low download speeds - 0.4 kB/s at times - although files are uploading at about 12 kB/s most of the time. When I connect I get the message "Your 4662 port is not reachable. Please review your network config." But how do I do this?
We recently had DSL installed by SBCGlobal and I have a 2Wire home portal (which the icon says is not activated, yet seems to work ok for most internet) plus a laptop linked with a wireless card. Is 2Wire acting as a router? Thoroughly confused - any help would be appreciated!
Otherwise I'm still going to be waiting for this download next year...

Also, I've found that smaller files download 95% then just stop indefinitely - is this because I cannot connect to some of the people with the missing bit owing to low ID? Any thoughts?

Following some other threads I went to the emule forum where I found the following directions on how to configure my 2Wire 1000SW router and firewall. Pasted here in case anyone else with SBC needs them:

"Open Internet Explorer and go to the page http://172.16.0.1. Click on "Firewall" at the top of the screen. Click on "Firewall Settings" in the gray bar near the top. Click on "Add a new user defined application". Enter in the application name. Choose the appropriate protocol. Type the port numbers into the field. Click on the Add button. Repeat these steps to add any other ports that need to be opened. Click done once you have added the appropriate ports. Then you will need to select the computer that you want to forward the port too from the drop down list in step one. Then you will want to highlight the application you created in the list. Then click the add button to move the application over to the "Hosted Applications" side. The ports should now be opened on your firewall"

But... my downloads are still very slow - currently 3.3 kB/s as opposed to 11.7 for uploads. Anything else I should try to improve speed? Or should I move to Shareaza instead?
