View Full Version : Greedy people on WinMX should be put to death!!!!!!

I've been trying for about a fortnight to download an MPEG. I've had it queued up loads of times. Today for instance, I was in the download queues of 9 people at one time.

And as I moved closer to the front of their queue, the inevitable happened to each of them...........THEY WENT OFFLINE!!!!!!!!!

Now, this is after leaving the PC running for days on end, and I find it unbelievable that so many greedy bastards exist on WinMX, that I've been unable to complete a simple movie file which is so plentiful on the network. And its not because I'm not sharing, because I am. But the realization has kicked in, that WinMX is only for greedy people. And if the developers of WinMX don't address this problem in their next release (due when the moon turns green, see press for details), then its gonna get worse.

Sorry for the rant,

Move to a better network.

We all like to get these things off our chest.
You just have to remember that is life. Perhaps they can't have their computer on all day every day. It is a good thing that they are sharing it in the first place. I have yet to see a truely effective anti-leech system in a traditional p2p client. Some people argue e-mule is a good system. WinMX is trying to deal with the queuing problems, hopefully that will sort you out.
Just sit back and wait for your file. You will spend a lot of your life worrying if you worry about leechers.

So your mad at a guy that shares a movie for days, and then has to go offline? Well thats what I would call greedy, my friend.

save the headache.. Buy the movie =) Or use another filesharing program that can get you closer to a bad rip.

I never considered winmx good for anything more than mp3s or short video files. IMO, there are a lot more better options for getting movies.

I get tones of movies(alot of horror and westerns) I cant get on any other major network. Unfortunately, alot of users use mx moni to trade and specify some files to start before others. This is great for spreading rare files but a slow process that leaves other files unobtainable. Also the network if very fragmented and some times you lose users because the part of the network they are on becomes un-accessible.Your best bet is to refresh your connection often. You will be suprised how many sources you will find.

WinMX=Sucks

The frog suggests:

If you are going to use a mainstream p2p program, just use Kazaa Lite ++. If you are worried about being busted, just disable sharing. There are always tons of people to leech off of there... plus it multisources well.

They're not greedy. They just make the mistake to run a Windows operating system. Each time you see them go offline is when the poor souls have to reboot their machine.

Go to eMule.

Leechers will be a thing of the past since everybody shares.

No, you've misread my post. I'm the one leaving his computer on for days, in the vain hope that someone will let me download. The guys I'm referring to come online, stay online for a couple of hours (obviously long enough to get whatever it is they're getting), then turn off, usually when I'm almost at the front of their download queue.

The file I'm trying to download isn't a movie as such, it's a live performance which is not available commercially. I also use KazaaLite, and its not on there. Thanks for all the replies though, glad I got that off my chest. Hopefully some of the leeches might even read this, and have a conscience.

Yeah, right!

Look dude...we've all seen this before with WinMX. I still have WinMX myself, but only ever use it for mp3 files that I can't find on other networks. In other words, I only use it for rare files that can't be found elsewhere. It has been rumoured WinMX is going to fix the queuing problems though, but that's only if we ever see WinMX 4...men will probably land on Mars first!

One of the problems with WinMX is when we have to use secondary connection. If the primary I'm connected to drops from the network, then I start all over again.

The only things I can tell you is refresh your search and do a "Find Sources Now" often.

uh sidescraper that problem has been fixed for awhile. Losing your primary connection does not make you lose your que place anymore(most of the time). If that was the case you would lose place everytime you refresh. The people in your upload (lost) lose their spots and have to reque everytime you refresh which only sucks for them.

Whenmx is a great network for movies with more titles than you can find anywhere. But with the limited search you have to look for specific names. I have got over 400 movies off this network. Its all in how you work it.
