try reinstalling it then tell me if it still does that

i doubt anything ever happens the same way after reinstalling it.. Its like brand new again and wont be broken.

how about the old winmedia 6.4? unless it doesn't work with xp.

Try updating it to the Windows Media Player 9 Series.. much nicer, and better features.

Rip out WMP7/8/9 completely using XPLite and stick to WMP6.4 for movies. Use WinAmp or Quinntessential player for audio.

WMP 7+ is a pile of shit. Doesn't play lots of films properly, and when it does is laggy, slow, temperamental and otherwise poorly written.
