qeerpeer is very fast, but it has that error in kernal32.dll..But ares has an average of 10 kbps for me so i guess shareaza has a bug

i don't think it depends as much on the client as it depends on the person/people you're downloading from. last night i got 170k on my cable connection using shareaza. i've also got over 180k using gnucleus in the past. why would a programmer make their program slow? one must use logic in questions such as "what gnutella client is really slow in downloading". Also, in my experience, bearshare clients are among the fastest uploaders (i think because it automatically assigns how many upload slots a person with a certain speed should have; i remember reading that somewhere but i could be wrong...or my own personal hypothesis that a lot of bearsharers are on fast connections :;) )

:devil That may be the case 123_kid but in my experiences, I consistently get better dl times off of K-Lite. I don't know maybe it's better now. If so I'll have to retry it again soon and see what happens.

Right now, the Limewire 2.5.5 clones and Shareaza 1.6 are downloading the FASTEST for me. I love it, I usually get around 150kbps-200kbps when i have AT LEAST 3 swarmed sources. Overall, Gnutella works fine for me, too bad more people use Fasttrack.
P.S. If Shareaza keeps this spectulacular performance while enhancing stability and adding more and more features, then I just better switch over to Shareaza all together!!!

By the way, Ares would be number 1 up there, but nobody uses it.:devil

I tried to use bearshare back in the 2.4 days, Man did that suck. I was lucky if i could even get a connection to gnutella. And when i did, i would only get >1 kb download speed. Man that sucked.

Bearshare definetly, used almost all of them with cable and 56K. Bearshare is by far the worst.

I really think it depends on WHO & WHERE you are downloading from. I've had really fast downloads on Gnucleus, Ares & Shareaza (and some slow ones). Of this poll though, I don't use Bearshare at all. I like to be able to trust my programs to a degree and I don't trust Bearshare at all.

There is only two ways that one program appears faster than the other which isnt random or based on uncontrolled factors..
1. One program might have a network improvement or feature that makes it better that other programs dont have. This could be good or bad for the network as a whole..
2. I think the "Placebo Effect" is what alot of people here are basing things on.. Thats of course where people think they are getting better performance when its just there brain telling them they are and they really isnt much difference..
