I personally feel that you need to give out just a little bit more info, in order to get any worthwhile feedback.
For example, what kind of firewall are you behind, what connection do you have. What kind of files are you trying to download, ie - are they popular or not. How do you find the files, Jigle maybe ? or via the application itself. Are you using the Kademlia implementation, or regular eMule etc etc.
Don't mean to sound condescending, but gleen as much info as possible.

Sorry that eMule did not work out for you, it does a great job for me.
Anyway, for previewing VideoLAN (http://www.videolan.org/) is quiet good. ;-)

I don't know anything about ON. Just find out what the partially downloaded file is called, in eMule it is a *.part file located in the /temp folder, and open it with VideoLAN. That's all the help I can give you, sorry, for more help, I'd suggest reading the ON-faq on their site, an/or doing a search for preview or VideoLAN on their forums.

I'm using Dial-up and I tried to set my upload/download bandwidth to "no limit" because my download speed is slow but is there anyway to reverse this coz my upload speed is higher than my download speed... :goodjob

I tried emule and tried almost every method to get it started but the download would *rarely* even start. I checked the FAQ's and tips from people, from other forums, but I could not get it to download files. I left it on for a day even and nope...
Does Overnet or Edonkey work better?

Overnet/eDonkey is way better now than before and will start your download in less than 2mins (depends how much sources you got) but before u accept any agreement, make sure you uncheck 4 spywares during setup...

Just go in to options -> network and you can change your bandwidth allocation. Don't max out your upload as you need a little spare just to be able to surf. Try setting your max to 80% of your upload capacity but use a whole number not a fraction.
It's ok to upload more than you download :tilted

Overnet is now way better than the server based networks, there are enough users and it starts up extremely quickly and delivers files fast( as long as they are available of course...and they generally are!) Very occasionally I use edonkey again if I can't find a complete source and even more rarely I look for something on emule. It's like stepping out of a Mercedes Kompressor and getting a ride in a Lada

1) try a modded version. try this site - http://www.x-tremer.de/pdl/page.php?show=home. its in german, but comprehensive. most people seem to use sivka, plus or lsd these days or just go for a kademlia (emule 0.4x) mod.
2) tweak your connection/bandwidth control settings. putting your allocated b/w at 70-90% of available depending on your systems oomph. some modes offer auto bandwith control it does not fully use the dl here, but that's maybe because i hardly dl popular stuff. if u have a firewall/router, be sure to open the necessary ports
3) maintain your server.met - i try to connect to the 3-5 servers with the highest # of files usually over an hour, then settle down and run. that way, you get a decent # of sources (some mods save sources). dl starts about 1-5 minutes after connect and goes to full throttle after 10-20.
4) credit system: 0 ul=0 dl.
5) DO NOT use leecher mods or aggressive features like friendslots-only and save 1000s of sources in lsd, rapid sourcedrop in sivka. most mods have anti-leecher shitlists anyway.
6) use the sharing priorities. if you want to release, sivka's your mod: 'hide overshares' spreads all chunks of a release.
7) xtrendkill: to preview videos in emule, just check the preview player preferences, then go to the files list, select the file and doubleclick. if its not there, there's no data there yet.
8) FWIW kademlia supposedly is better than overnet, but its a matter of personal flavor (apart from kad not requiring u to have micro$uk's fine competition war gadget/security flaw .net installed). tried it 0.2 versions ago, didnt like it at all. given the user stats, it has a user base of 10% of the community. if u want to try it, just use the same dl folders as with emule.

Use your VLC Media Player (VideoLAN) then look for any .part files in C:\Program Files\Overnet\temp\video.mpg\1.1.part and click open.
