Ok im sick hearing people say how "wonderful" Overnet is... It just doesn't work for me! Am i doing something wrong? I give all my best shares, all the latest screeners and games from Sharereactor, but it sits there and does nothing. I maybe get one or two takers for REALLY popular files, but my downloads dont move. I think highest D/L speed i've had is about 10k, i have a 1mb connection :(

SYSTEM:

Win XP Pro (not firewalled, latest updates)
256MB ram
1024/256 connection

Settings:

Max D/L 90k
Max U/L 20k
line speed 100k

HEEEEEEELP

All I can say is that it's working beautifully for me (average 40-50K downloads steady on a queue of 6 recent sharereactor releases, running 24/7 for weeks on end). Obvious tips I can think of are:

1) ISP - if you havent used eDonkey before you might want to check that TCP ports 4661 and 4662 are not throttled/blocked. If they are, change them with the port commend in the comand line area at the bottom of the GUI client.

2) Firewall - same as above really

3) Time - OverNet takes about 15 minutes tio "settle" onto the network - for some people it's up to an hour. he Kadmelia protocol bases its download priorities on, amongst others, the length of time someone has been on (the longer you're on, the longer you're likely to remain on) so it helps to leave it running for long periods of time - during which it will index millions of files.

4) Connections - Check tour connections setting in the options - you hould be looking at 500 minimum for a 1mb line, although you can probably get away with more (I've heard of people with about 2000, but that seems a load to me).

Good luck, and do let us know if you crack it. I've stopped using everything else now (No more gnutella, WOOHOO!) and do not plan to go back. Also make sure you have the latest client, currently 0.29.1.
