How do i get overnet to download at 80/kbs + ?

i've read somewhere that there's some crack you can download that makes overnet go faster. I'm on a dsl connection that has a 256 kb/s upstream and a 1.5mps downstream.

you will only go as fast as your sources upload.

there's nothing special you can do to make your downloads go faster.

you could de-static yourself and put a metal hat on....but hasnt really been proven to work

really? i've heard that some people were able to download 100+ kps. Man i know i have the connection to download like that.

So far i can only download 30kps the max. (I've played around with my uploading and downloading settings too. For the values i place:
1500
20
1500 for the line.

Everyone's settings are different based on their actual connection. I have been able to get over 100k/sec using both eDonkey and Overnet, but it just takes time, patience, and luck. As cpu said, it's all dependant on whom you are downloading from. Both eDonkey (eMule) and Overnet tend to favor the idea of uploading slower to more people than uploading faster to fewer. You'll notice that as you increase your own upload limit, you will not really upload faster to each person downloading; Your client will simply open up more slots for people to download from you.

So, if you want to see high speeds, there is NOTHING that YOU can do. It just happens sometimes if you happen to work your way up to the top of several people's queues whom also have a small number of peopld downloading from them.

When I share, I share a lot of files on the network, so there are usually many people waiting to download from me, so no one will really get good speeds from me, HOWEVER, I am still uploading 70k/sec or so to the network as a whole, therefore if more people have parts of that file, the more sources there are for other people to download it.

I've found that having your upload speed at anything over 10kbps will unlock your full potential download speed.

That doesn't mean much if the combined sources of your download aren't that fast, but I've download at over 135kbps on Overnet with just 11kbps being used to upload.

I do most of my p2p action at night when I sleep and during the day when I'm at work, so having my upstream at full throttle (about 75k/sec) doesn't slow me down when I'm surfin' or gamin'. With a 75k/sec upstream, I average out at about a 1 to 1 ratio between uploads and downloads which provides me with good karma, so I'm happy :)

My ISP, Comcast limits my upstream to 30kbps.

They have a strict clause in the TOS that you cannot run servers. I've even heard of people getting their accounts canned due to too much upsteam use in a month.

I don't want to push it.
