I've just decided to try out shareaza, and i'm having some problems just connecting in general. When i open up shareaza it just keeps connecting and connecting. I don't know what to do. I have a d-link router, and i've read that it might be the problem, but i've followed the manual and it still doesn't work. Please help.. Thank you

By follow the manual do you mean this website?
http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1461
(It is specific to Shareaza if you are wondering about the address)

I don't know anything about your router or shareaza to help anymore, hopefully someone else will be along to help.
In the mean time check all the obvious things. Are you sure that you enter your Private IP correctly? Have you got the latest Shareaza? etc.

Step 1: Configure your computer to have a Static IP address (instructions (http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWSXP/home/using/productdoc/en/sag_TCPIP_pro_ManualConfig.asp))
Step 2: Configure a port in the Shareaza Settings (see screen shot) (also make sure "random" is unchecked.)
Step 3: Forward port in router settings.
EDIT: another thought...
put your real internet ip (http://www.whatismyip.com) in the parts i blacked out. you will have to change this every time your internet IP changes. you can setup a dyndns account, and have it do it that way if you wish.

In the router settings, you will have some options in the port forwarding section...
you want to forward the port that you set in shareaza to the Static IP you set up for your computer in step 1.
