Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem.
I was getting lots of audio files with "screeching" in them so I came here to solve that. In doing so I saw the link for the clean install, and links to the newest version of K-lite.
So, I downloaded Ressurection and attempted to do a clean install. I did NOT do the registry portion, as I've dorked it up before and didn't want to again. Well, I DID go into the registry.... but didn't see anything that was obviously K-lite.
Fast forward to now. K-lite seems to be working fine, no screeching songs yet. However, the first song I tried to download seemed to download fine, but I only got the first 30 seconds of audio, then silence.
For information purposes... I downloaded 4 different "listings" for the song, all with 50+ users in the list. All had the same problem in WinAmp. My old songs don't have this problem in WinAmp, so I assume it's not a WinAmp problem, but something in K-Lite or somewhere else.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you in advance,
Dawg_enD

I downloaded 4 MORE listings on a new search. All but one did the same thing. The play for about 29-31 seconds, then fade out.
The 4th one screeched.
/shrug I'm baffled.

Fakes, darn. I was hoping that if I downloaded EIGHT I'd get at least one legit one. Grrr.
Sorry about the title.

Use the mp3 checker (bulit in with KLR under "tools") to check your music collection for screeches before you play the files. At least you wont damage your ears testing them!

I don't know about K-Lite Ressurection, but recently I d/l'd and installed K-Lite 2.6 (big UPS to Agent Smith!). It has a "bad IP range updater" tool.
I used this tool to update the latest bad IP ranges from Peer Gardian. Just to test(cause as a general rule, I don't use FT for music), I d/l'd a very popular song which previously I hadn't been able to get a non glitchy copy of, and it worked, no screeching, no blibs, no gaps - just perfect 192kbps mp3.
So it might be worth your while looking into wether ressurection has a similar feature. If not, check out the "K-Lite's not dead..." thread and find the latest link to download K-Lite 2.6.

Even with IP Blocker, I still get screeching songs on FT (some people don't like to delete their messed up rips). You have a couple of options:
1. Choose files with less users. Sure, it won't go as fast, and you might be waiting a while, but files that have a large listing of files are sure to include at least one RIAA source.
2. Go for a higher bitrate. Sure, over dialup this will take a while, but chances are that you might not run into these problems.
3. Try another network. You don't necessarly have to use Ares (only a few spammers make it seem that everyone on ZP uses it), but check out some of the other ones. Popular ones include Shareaza (www.shareaza.com) and WinMX (www.winmx.com).

Yes it does. IP updater can be found on the tools menu. To switch it on and off go to Options -> Kazaa Lite Resurection Options -> Then on the K++ Options tab you can tick or untick the box.

Those screeching songs are corrupted, be sure to delete them. One down fall of having so many sources is one person sharing a corrupt file can cause a spiral of screeching songs for other people.

lol
i think what they are trying to say is,
there are spammers here that promote ares, but......
far be it for me to start another rumor!
LOL
But do we know who those spammers are? I haven't a clue!!

If anyone expresses any dissatisfaction over a p2p program the Ares groupies can always be counted on to make an appearance.
btw Janet999 loves those small programs. Size just doesn't matter to her. :upside
Now back to the 2nd half of the football game.
