Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) and ABC (http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/)
For ease of use I would say ABC. Azureus has lots more functions though. In my opinion the functions are mostly pointless, but I'm probably going to be shot for saying that.
Burst client (http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/6/10-6-45.shtml) is very lightweight and I dare say that Origin will be here to recommend it any second now...
In my opinion ABC is the best comprimise between ease of use and fuctionality.

Shadow's Experiment Client is great. Hasn't ever let me down. Simple yet sophisticated under the hood.

There is a how-to somewhere, I will go and find it for you. In the mean time, go to www.suprnova.org in your internet browser and chose what you want to download. Click it and then switch to Azureus and choose where you want to save it.
As for upload/download, you get credits with other people for uploading. By limiting your upload you can limit your download. (Not that this really works unless you put the upload speed really low).
On "view" select "configuration". A bunch of tabs will appear. Select "Transfer" and then set the "Max upload speed".

OK, the FAQ is looking a bit dated again (Evil_Dweller, get to it!)
To put it almost overly simply:
The idea of going to a Suprnova is to get a .torrent file. This is a small file that contains information on what the file is called, its hash (unique fingerprint to check it has downloaded properly) and where the tracker is. The tracker is a computer that keeps all the different users trying to download the same file in contact with eachther. You BT Client (in your case Azureus) uses this file to start the download.
When you have selected a .torrent file from Suprnova, Azureus will ask where you want to save the actual file (the film/game/whatever). Choose a place.
Select the "My torrents" tab to see the file downloading. It will take a while to get up to speed, but then it should fly (depending on other factors of course).
Sometimes a torrent will not download for a while. Don't worry, the tracker could be down. It should start again soon.

np.
There are many other torrent sites - www.link2u.tk. Suprnova is the best though. Keep refreshing the page until it loads. You could also try www.suprnova.tk.
You can't search peoples harddrives. You have to wait for people to offer the file. Then lots of people swap it at once. This is called a swarm.

adding my two cents, I use torrentstorm,[think it uses shadow as transfer helper] [ I have that too] works great, get over 200kB/s on some downloads. I started hunting torrents with shareaza search, after typing in torrent-I put avi, mpg, whatever ,choose any file type, hit [go,search] and get a thousand or more . download what I want tell torrentstorm where torrent file is and open.PS you can get real personal and put name of file in and it will show you torrent file for that name.

Azureus is IMHO the best BT client available. If you are looking for an updated list of bittorrent sites I always start with www.btsites.dontexist.com. In general Suprnova is probably the most used bittorrent site out there. However, there are plenty of smaller sites w/ various material. Azureus allows you to throttle connection speeds if necessary both upload and download. Spend some time getting familiar with it and if you have anything that people can't answer here about it the Azureus development team is pretty friendly. I know that whenever i have emailed gudy in the past he always replied. Hope this helps.
