Some things that I noticed...for some reason i got great speeds on downloads(intially) when starting Edonkey2000.

It said I had a maximum download capacity of 6.3...usually i would say my max is 5.6kb/sec with 5.3kb/sec being fairly common as the highest for my maximum download speed.

I was downloadin like a mofo on Edonkey2000 0.52 client..when all of a sudden i did a search for more of what i was looking for...(same artist) and low and behold search results were found..now herein lies the kicker

When i started to download the newfile by the SAME ARTIST i then get a fairly low to high queue number from the people I was already downloading another piece of crap movie from...

the reason? I don't know...this is PURELy SPECUlATiVe of course but i am imagining that me requesting more than one thing from the same user at the same time was what caused this behavior.

AT any rate..I closed Edonkey2000 0.52 client..which had given me a 79 and 300 in the queueline..and then proceeded to fire up good ole Overnet 0.52..and what happened?

Downloads started immediately..no crazy arse queues.

Go Figure =/ =? /me is perplexed but happy to have resumed downloading and superlatively higher speeds again sans queue.

Well please know that ed2k and overnet have 2 distinct queue and download systems....

But on both the same rules apply - that - if you request more than one file from the same person, your queue # will most likely increase notably... because your "asking" that person more often, which often gives you a bad rep. I don't know why... but it happens.

Most likely Overnet was faster for you, because that's what Overnet is known for. For me, everything will start faster, and usually download faster. I've noticed that say when im downloading a 700 MB file... it takes around an hour to start my download on ed2k... it usually starts within 5 minutes on Overnet, although it may not get fast for some times... although in the long run Overnet does finish faster... for me anyway.

READ THE RULES. Do not discuss illegal reproduction of copyrighted meterial here. Edit your post.

Queueing clients contact their sources about every 20
minutes. If the other client was restarted during that 20 minutes and it's queue rapdily filled up again then you might see an increase in queue positon.

Most people use emule. Perhaps your overnet client happened to have a lot of credit with the source of the file.
