i have a 2.6GHZ HT Procc With XP and Encoding ALOT of movies and softcore gaming would i see a difference if i went from 512 to 1024MB RAM?

Not much of a difference...since XP swaps all the time no matter how much ram you run with. Now if you grabbed up some program like cachemon and set it to use all free memory before swapping you'd probably see a slight boost.
