View Full Version : Need help with DC++!!

I installed DC++, I can connect but I cannot search anything! The search is working but nothing appears, no single file!
I'm sharing about 44GB, I have ADSL, so I don't know what it's going on!
Please help!

I found I could connect to the hubs and everything with DC++, but no search results would ever appear. My solution was the built in WinXP firewall. You have to disable it before the search results can come in.

You'll probably have to switch to "passive mode".
I don't know what version you have, but in newer versions, go to File > Settings > General >
Check the radio button that says passive mode.
If what you are saying is true, and you are unable to recieve any search results at all, and you should indeed be getting results, then it's likely that you cannot make an active connection (cannot recieve incoming connection on whatever port your DC++ is using).
Switching to passive mode fixes this, but you won't be able to download from others in passive mode.
Are you behind a firewall and/or router?

You just need to open port 412 and 1412 (TCP and UDP)
Don't disable your whole firewall.

well like ken says if your behind a router or have a network you need to make sure that your connecting in passive mode.
other then that solution follow what cmden has said as well.

Just note that in passive mode you can't connect to other passive mode users.
Active mode is better if you can get it to work.

412 isn't necessary at all. you do need 411 if you're hosting a hub.
and if you want to get into active mode, you have to fill in your IP address and the port you open (1412) in the little box next to the active mode radio button.
if your IP changes, you need to update it in the settings. the easiest way to be active behind a router is to get a dyndns hostname....then put that in the settings and have your router or some other program automatically update the hostname when your IP changes (my router has a setting for that, it's the linksys befsr41...the setting is calld DDNS)
