The most space saving way is join them in avi and/or mpeg form before starting the DVD burning process. I have used this process with VCD and SVCD. However, if individual avi files have different specs they might not join.

depending on reseloution/bitrate/ and audio bitrate the file sizes will differ or on the conrar be the same. dvd standards and the media support vcd mpeg-1 streams as well as high(er) quality mpeg-2 streams. Just when it comes to putting old svcd's or vcd's of youres onto a dvd+-r make sure that the audio from the original source is resampled to 48000 KHZ from the original 44.1 KHZ. you can fit as many episodes as you want onto the blank dvd but keep in mind the higher the quality of the files the less if any more episodes will fit onto the dvd opposites apply bieng if they were really low quality a whole season could fit on one disk(not reccomended). What would I do you ask? since the files were originally avi files I would convert them all to vcd mpeg-1 streams. Now with the average tv show bieng some where around 21-22 minutes without the commercials once converted to vcd(about 220 Megs each) that is 21 episodes on a dvd+-r. remember though since we are not burning this as a normal vcd the audio MUST be resampled to 48000 KHZ. Just what I would do it is only a reccomendation listen to my words wisely if you choose to ;)

this sounds like a good plan, and i have already started converting my files over to vcd mpeg-1 streams, but how do you burn them to dvd? (I am fairly familiar with TMPGEnc DVD Author and nero)
