I finally found the file I was looking for on eMule, but the download speed is either really low (1k or less) or I'm in the waiting status (what is it that I’m waiting for). Now, I'm new to eMule, so perhaps I’m doing something wrong (wrong server? …). I have updated the server list and found the file through filedonkey.com – what can I do to get this file in less than a month and a half?
Any advice?

The longer you share, the quicker you r downloads will be. Just leave it on, and then download.
Edit: Also, give the razerback server a high prioridy, this is one of the most popular servers, do the following to do this
1. Go to servers,
2. Look down the list of servers, until you see azarback, my spelling could be wrong= Anyway right click it, go to prioridy, then set it to high, that will also help

Thanks Serrebi,
Couple of quiestions, if you don't mind:
Should i try to connect to different servers to increase the speed? If so, which ones should I choose? With highest file number or?
Does eMule only shares files that are being downloaded or all files in the Incoming directory?
Btw, the download started at 5Kb, which is much faster than 0.0001...
Thanks!

One more thing:
This is what I get when I connect to one of the servers:
Warning eMuleReactor.de (66.98.148.44:4661) - You have a lowid. Please review your network config and/or your settings.
12/25/2003 4:34:58 PM: Connection established on: eMuleReactor.de
12/25/2003 4:34:58 PM: New clientid is 91826
Any thing I can do to get higher clientid?

For a higher ID, you need to allow all connections incoming and outgoing on port 4662 TCP and port 4672 UDP. This will get you a high id, assuming you have broadband. This is the main cause of "slow" downloads.
Emule/edonkey was not made for fast downloads, rather for large, quality files. Dont expect it to be as fast as Kazaa. Expect the files to work.
I might reccomend using Overnet if you MUST get faster speeds. I've found that with Overnet I can hit 80 KBps after about a minute rather than 3-5 in 10 hrs on eMule/ed2k.... just a thought. They all have the same files.
EDIT: oh, and this server thing doesnt matter all that much. Each server connects with other servers, thus making the network. You dont just get users from your server. You "trade" users, you connect to one other user on another server, who tells you which people on his server have the file, and thusly you do the same with the other guy, and thats what is called a "Source Exchange" Just so you get connected to a server, with a high ID, is what usually makes the difference.

Thanks!
I have those ports set correctly and I'm cable (3000D/800U), but seem to be somewhat slow. I'll just leave it to see how it goes.
Thanks for the advice!

Don't try to use emule/edonkey to download music unless its full albums, or short video clips becuase it is the wrong network for those. The key to emule is patience, and its well worth the wait when your getting files that are the real thing.
