I have a P 3 700 and I find that this new Winamp 5 is kinda slow in loading. Is it just me?

it is prlly not the software that is running slow(the final release runs sweet for me), basiclly it could be a lot of things. Some ones off the top of my head:
1. Other software running while its running causing some sort of conflict over resources etc.
2.you have a lot of spyware/adware on ur CPU, run ad aware.
3.defrag ur hd
4. while winamp is running go into ur taskmanager and look under processes and see what is comsuming *most* of ur cpu's resources, helps identify the problem.
5. run a virus scan look for trojan's backdoor's all kinds of malicious software.

Hope this helps somewhat,

Ok But I didn't use to have this problem with Winamp 2.6. Is the new version using more ressources? And what would really make me want to switch to the new version? Thanks for the help.

I guess I didn't notice a loading time issue with it, but its possible that its slightly slower.

Try switching to classic skins, the modern skins take a lot more RAM.

Winamp 5 is compatible with winamp 2.x, and 3.x skins/pugins/whatever, so it will have to load a little more code to be compatible.

The size of your playlist may also have something to do with loading times.
