View Full Version : What's the real deal with SpySweeper (free version)?

We just started using Spysweeper because SpyBot (which is an amazing piece of software in my opinion) wasn't getting all of the Spyware and/or adware that crept in with screensavers, themes, etc. After just one use, Spysweeper said it couldn't load its log and I'd have to re-install, which I did. This could have been a glitch, though, right?
My question: How long is the "free" version really good for and how good is it? :shy

the unofficial software comes with spyware, unless you pay for the version which is free and gets rid of spyware. I wouldnt doubt it on cnet.

Perhaps "Spy Sweeper" generates random false results to appear to be doing more....?

Im glad you posted this...Yesterday, All 4 of my spyware programs had an update.
(Spybot, AdAware,SpySweeper,and Spyware Blaster).
After updating all of them ...I began my sweep....
Spybot.....all clear.
AdAware....found 1.
Spysweeper....found 2 more. ...hmmm.
(Spyware Blaster is passive so I don't yet know it's increased effectivness.)
Yup..it's important to run more than one program...and yes ...Spysweeper IS an excellent program, worth "acquiring".
The 'free' version lasts 10 sweeps.. I believe.
btw ..@ccs dude..Webroot (Spysweeper's parent co.) is fairly credible...however, maybe you have a point???... who knows.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking that as well. I saw a lot of results of things that had already been removed by SpyBot as well as other random ones.
Thanks again,

It apearing that stuff off of Cnet has spyware/adware on it. But not everything does, use a older computer to test out the software then if they check out clean then install the software on your main computer.
I like everybody else that hates spyware/adware.
