No, this cant POSSIBLY be happening, as it was recently pointed out that thousands of people all use Spybot, and it isnt happening to them!.

I gather that was a sarcastic comment and ill ask has anyone had this problem before

It was a SPECIFICALLY sarcastic comment . . . as I recently suggested that SBSD wasnt perfect, and did in fact sometimes botch a Windows install.

Thank you for your support.

I just updated spybot, scanned my hard drives with no problems at all.

It seems to be quicker at scanning for me as well.

You could try to download the new version from the website as opposed to updating it via the program itself.

Spybot use to lock up my pc before added some extra ram.

But now the only time it seems to freeze is when looking for updates via the program, And thats only for a few seconds.

The only time I saw Spybot freeze is when it was doing a update and somehow the server that I selected is no longer avaible. That the only thing that freezes it so fair.

I think I saw that error. What I did was to reinstall it and rebooted. I got an error message that said that a perameter was wrong but after rebooting it it work like it always did. My could have been cause by the power outage that we had up here for a short time at the begining of the week. I also had to reinstall my video driver the day after.

That's the only thing that ever happened to me. And, I just checked, no newer updates available. You must have just gotten the program, and maybe the freeze is what you think is a lockup... although mine freezed with my 1.5 gigabytes of RAM.

YES! Spybot often crashes my system as well when running a scan! I have found that ending as many running processes as possible first often prevents this. Unsure of the cause - possibly a memory issue?

happens to me only when it's downloading updates. Usually I leave it alone and after a few minutes everything is ok again. People keep in mind that these are fairly basic programs and might not always manage memory very well. Therefore avoid multi-tasking when scanning.

I doubt it really crashes, it just stops responding. If you give it enough time I'd bet it will finish eventually.

You really should close all programs, and don't multitask when running spybot.

There will be a new beta out soon hopefully, the interface has been redesigned, and many new features have been added.
