I have been testing the latest beta from Bearshare 4.4.x and it is amazing.

You get connected to the network within seconds, and they have implemented a new Heartbeat stats system which is really awesome.

Also they have started adding GGEP Alt-Loc from Query Hits, which in short means you get a ton of sources for files, and PFS is coming up very soon.

This isnt meant as a fanboy thread, its a sincere recommendation for the latest version, if you havent tried the beta (has no ad/spyware) give it a go.

Bearshare is still Gnutella (and so is "G2"), so why bother? It is an outdated protocol that best serves as a back-up if several other networks are shut down along with instant messengers, IRC, newsgroups and direct connection methods.

BTW Sephiroth, your bias shines brightly whenever a thread starts about Bearshare (or Shareaza-indirectly related to BearShare). I would recommend that you don't respond to these threads. There are moderators other than you that can impartially moderate debates regarding these programs.

BTW... just to respond to the inevitable response... yes this is backseat moderation, but it is a good rule of thumb for you regarding Gnutella.

Wow what prejudice people have, I just make a simple suggestion, no bashing of other programs, and we have to get in a hissy fit.

I'm just saying there is a lot of cool new stuff to check out in it, thats all.

As does your quickness to accuse me of biased..

Which this is going back to what happen in the winamp5 thread IMHO. A few people like yourself and others seem to just have ADD or something and cannot stay on any kind of specific topic. This isnt the bash bearshare thread as one reply earlyer nor is this a general opinion of a program you have probably either never used or havent for a very long time or what you think of other protocols.

Like the winamp5 thread this is a thread about a specific release. So if you havent used it or do not have anything to say about that release then its offtopic and shouldnt be in this thread. Which is why the other offtopic replies and the one bashing one were removed. Stop hijacking this and other threads or complaining when you cant just create a new thread for once.

this guy asked if we like bearshare and some people don't like it. Can't they say it? Are you allowed to post only good opinions about this CRAPPY software?

btw the second reply you deleted said "did Vinnie add G2 support yet? lol j/k" <----what's so bad about this?????

IS THIS OFF TOPIC?

I dont see where he asked for any opinions at all in the first post. Its a thread about a release not general opinions. So please point out where im wrong and this isnt about the latest beta verisons, until then yes it is offtopic.

Your also wrong because you and others could have just did the simple thing and created a new thread about a different topic rather than to make baseless accusations and the some who decided to troll.

Im looking at the second reply right now and it does not say anything that you claim it does.

I was replying to the content of the thread that was deleted as I created my reply. It was not meant to be a troll, it was just replying to the fact that you jumped into the argument as soon as Shareaza was mentioned.

BTW... I have not tried the new BearShare yet. Thanks for the recommendation ccc1005. I see that you use Shareaza AND BearShare. I am glad that you are able to tell us about the advances in this program having used both!. Perhaps I will try this new version seeing as you see noticeable improvement. Way to go Vinnie!

Long live peace between Vinnie and Mike! Gnutella is big enough for all to get along and interoperate together (unless people are blocking other clients on the network, which I am not sure if they are any more--except for Morpheus).

To be fair this isnt the Sharaza forum and this thread has nothing to do with shareaza. So explain to me why does someone need to bash bearshare and promote sharaza in another program's forum? That would be fanboying and why that post from bda which was the second post was removed. The rest mainly my babarfloyd and others were removed because they were all replying to the offending post which you should know that replies to bad posts here also get removed too which is nothing new.

Since babarfloyd just wanted to troll on this and repeatly ignore 4 warnings to stop and has been tempbanned for 2 days.

So, since Sephiroth decides he feels like deleting posts that he doesn't agree with, let's talk about bearshare - a topic that we can discuss. Shareaza sucks and It shouldn't be compared to a program similar, we all know that. Why? The Super Moderator says so!

So, let's discuss an approved topic, shall we? How about those ads in BearShare. See anything interesting lately?

I believe i dumbed it down enough that even you could understand it. If you just want to continue to troll then i suggest you go elsewheres. The fact that you seem to believe that we should not fairly represent all programs and let people like yourself troll programs you dont like and prevent those people who do like it from having a discussion is not what a portal site is about.

If it was done in any other program and then it would have been handled the same way.

Thanks for the suggestion ccc.

From your post..it sounds like Bearshare is getting better and better.

Does Bearshare still have spyware though? Or did they take them out?

Well the regular releases do have spyware, but the beta versions are free of spyware.

Check this Link Beta Forums (http://www.bearshare.com/forum/announcement.php?s=&forumid=50)

Considering all the fakes floating around, I have yet to find one with the Gnutella network using Bearshare (and Raza for that matter). Just another good alternative to Kazaa/Kazaa Lite.

It also was pretty cool to get around 600 sources for 1 file (a somewhat less popular music file at 192 Kbps which really surprised me)

In other words, comparison is banned. Where is that in the rules?
