lol you must be exhausted from it.

In detail explain WHICH buttons do not have functionality, or gifs that load, which links do not work, otherwise this is just a guessing match. It might be java, or some XML problems, who knows.

You might also go to TOOLS > Internet Options > Advanced, see if Java is selected.

phalkon30 - youre not suggesting that he could be the victem of some software he installed, or other 3rd party utilities designed to IMPROVE his Windows experience, are you?

People use software everyday, that couldnt possibly be it.

cpu, there's more to it than that. I have witnessed this behavior this past week on some 20 machines in several places, including my own. On some I have been able to just reset all the settings back to the Default, and afte restarting IE or Windows, the functionality resumed.

I have other machines that have not done this yet at all. It could be a certain combination of newer security patches . . . . ie: BUG

Here's another "feature" in hotmail

Mail Display Settings

Display Internet Images To protect your e-mail address from people who send junk e-mail, you have the option to filter images from e-mail messages until you are sure they are not junk e-mail. Select whether you want to display images automatically, or review messages before choosing to display the images.

When you do that, your email address is OPEN SEASON for spyware, and softwares that phone home, and they DO! A lot of software is TRAPWARE, and if you try to bootleg it, it sends the info back to home base, and you get a nasty email threatening you. Not to mention the amount of virii just waiting for you to use OE.

There are reasons why people use web based email.

is there anyway i can send all the messages in have in my hotmail account to another email account?
im fucking tired of hotmail and this is bs, its been like 3 days without access to my email account, microsoft messed this up and im too tired to fix it

December 14th, 2003, 12:20 PM
Yep, its working fine with outlook 2003. I've gotten maybe 15 messages this weekend, no junk mail though

I heard a few weeks ago that hotmail was going to be redone completely with much better junkmail features and a new interface. Maybe they're working on that now.

Wolfie
December 14th, 2003, 12:37 PM
I have been getting considerably less junk mail than I regularly do on my hotmail account recently. Hopefully its a trend to stay, lol.

phalkon30
December 14th, 2003, 12:39 PM
Hmm, I like the new features, and I think the junk mail filters are helping a lot, but I can't say I like the look better.

Here's a screen shot. I'd do more, but I'm too lazy, and there are too many new windows and menus to screenshoot.

phalkon30
December 14th, 2003, 12:56 PM
Sure. I've got my junk mail set up like yours, if they're not on my safe list they go to junk mail. Anybodys mail that I really want to read goes to yahoo anyway. Hotmail has turned into my forum mail thing, or mailing list, etc.

If you want to send me junk mail, send it to [email protected] please. Every 2 weeks I hit the 6 meg limit for junk mail anyway.

if you setup outlook express to use your hotmail account (temporarily) you can just drag your messages from there onto your desktop.

So . . . let me see if I have this correct. You are going to DOWNLOAD your emails, instead of leaving them on the server, and then migrate to a new mail client, and new email addys, simply because you fucked up your O/S?

For the love of god man, get your shit straightened out, reinstall or do a restore point, and get off this thread already. You should have had this solved since the weekend. You spend all this energy trying to repair something, THATS CRAP TO BEGIN WITH.

Listen to me, your OS IS CRAP!

Keep your stuff backed up, Keep stuff OFF of the C: drive, and be prepared to replace in 30 seconds or less.

Forget about Hotmail. It's crap. There are hundreds of good free ones out there. Pick the one you want, set up an account and use this
http://www.returnpath.net/
to send your mail to the new account.

Mine was crapping out for last few days, so I just dumped my cookies and temp files (over a hunch) and then enabled java again and now its working. It is kinda getting a bit of a hassle though.

wanked--go down to the local library and check your hotmail there. Betchya dollars to donuts that it will work fine. If it does, go home and try kicking the central processing unit.

I really can't stand the new hotmail interface. dum dum dum dum. The only good thing about it is now there's a link back to the junk mail folder when reading a piece of junkmail.

Here's a good one:
Display Internet Images To protect your e-mail address from people who send junk e-mail, you have the option to filter images from e-mail messages until you are sure they are not junk e-mail. Select whether you want to display images automatically, or review messages before choosing to display the images. More Info.
X Display images automatically Remove images until messages are reviewed

So I have "Display images automatically" checked off, right?
Then I check my mail and 98% of the message is missing, and at the top it says

NOTE: To help protect your privacy (more info) Hotmail blocked images in this message. Show images once | Always show from this sender

So I click "Always show from this sender"

Next time I get a piece of mail from sender as before, it is still blocking out all the images. Grrrrrrrrrr. Even though I am not offended by pictures of credit cards, donkey schlongs, or 3 Doors Down, hotmail just really really really doesn't want my virgin eyes to see such things.

Rainbowdemon--i've been using hotmail for about 4 years or so, whenever Imail demanded $ for my (free) .null.net address and shut me off. I also have an earthlink email address, woohoo. What is so great about these other ones, other than they probably don't block out images of bestiality?
