Every week I run ad-aware and spybot. The other day it found some stuff that I deleted and ever since, every time I go to My Computer or Internet Explorer I get a message (" is not a valid date) this is usually followed by a pop up ad window even though Ive ran ad-aware and spybot again and have windows messenger disabled. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Yes, you trust a 3rd party software to make sweeping changes to your registry and delete configuration file.

Be judicious about what you let these softwares affect, if you are not sure, ask. If it screws up, go and UNDO what you did last.

If you cant do that, learn to use your System Restore points.

i think krell really meant to say no.
i dont think there is one user here that isnt using spybot ad aware or both.
there is nothing to know about what it finds. it doesnt find random problems, it finds exact changes made by spyware adware, i never had a problem with these .

NO, I DID NOT MEAN TO SAY NO.

AND DONT you fucking try to speak on my behalf again! You little yapping dog, you need to learn to stay ther fuck out of my business . . . for the last time.

YES, you can affect your windows envirnment in a negative way using Spybot, I have both seen it and read articles of it. Even supposing that it wasnt either Spybot or Ad-Aware, are you also speaking on this users behalf to testify that he isnt using OTHER 3rd party utilities to keep his system clean? Are you vouching for that?

The fact remains, using a lot of 3rd party software to Dr up your Windows can cause as much harm as the good it does, and anyone thats been here for a while can cite many examples of it.

Be judicious about what you let these softwares affect, if you are not sure, ask. If it screws up, go and UNDO what you did last.

Well said.
Krell, I struggle to read your posts from a man that complains so much about trolls and still keep a straight face.
