Hi!
yes, i know that in general, you need to run a tracker [which is like a server on eMule/Napster] & you need to deal with .torrent files [kind like .part files in eMule or .Dat on kazaa --right?], & that you need to run the program & share files... etc... but what exactlly the tracker is doing? why there is a need to actually d/l the torrent files? why a url in not enough? [like on eMule?] etc...

A tracker is just that . It tracks the download and connects the diffrent people in the download swarm. Torrent files are important because they give the client the download location and tracker address, cant be done with a url.
Bit torrent is also completly visable prossess. All the riaa or mpaa need to do is run a standerd client and connect to get the ip's of everyone involved.

In most cases either very well, or not at all
unless you want to get linux isos, it is really hit or miss--seeds disappear, trackers go up and down, the sites are in and out
i think if you don't get it the first day, you probably never will

yea there is no playing hide and seek on BT. Everyones IP's are visible blantanly so it is just a matter of luck. I actually think the client/network operate in a fairly effecient and effective method being that new file releases spread like wildfire with all of the fast seeders some of these sites/release crews have.It fails a lot because if the tracker disapears then acess to downloading/seeding that specific file dies there is no way to it, that makes the program very weak because one thing can make it in-operational just as with AG with the centralized operation, it can be easily chopped down it is just a matter of when. but until the time comes I will continue to enjoy these awesome 0-day releases on BT with exeptional speeds.
