I think its thier worst album,people said untouchables was too soft ,but atleast that was listenable.This sounds like untouchables but they were "trying" to be harder.I really doubt this cd will grow on me.

Korn may not of did what many bands are doing today, so the album will sound bad and different. I say have a copy in your car, play it loud and see if it grows on you. SO many bands of today recycle the same sound or whawt made them famious where you grow sick and old of them. So reinventing themselfs before you get sick of them can make an album sound bad.

I liked "Life is Peachy" and "Issues" and "Follow the Leader".

I've been listening to Korn on and off since 97'. The first 2 albums are the best. Follow the leader and Issues are decent. Untouchables sucks however. TALIM is better than Untouchables, however the sound is exactly the same. Futhermore, the refrain in Alive is very similar to Need To, which explains one or two. No more originality.
However I disagree that it's a screamer band. You can't use the label "screamer" because most metal vocalists scream and growl.It's too broead as a term. Korn is a pioneer of nu(not new)-metal.
I've given up on them, although they had a huge influence on many years ago.
They will probably never be as good as they used to be, becaus they use the "success" formula (take something that has been successful and reuse it). Major record labels don't think about music anymore, but about marketing. Linkin Park proved to be successful that's why you have so many sound-alike bands in US ate the moment.
Nu metal has been corrupted and I blame Fred Durst and co. for all this. Hopefully if it becomes unpopular, it will reinvent itself.
Some people have thought that Evanescence type of metal will be the new trend. However it's not something new. Evanescence is a total rip off of Lacuna Coil, as many of you probably know already.
In short: The industry creates the trends and create or promote bands according to the trends. I'm not good at predictions, but soon there will be Evanescence clones all over. Finished. My music preferences are under my profile :bk

ive recently been seeking for better music then what has been built on me. The first band i realy took as my own was A perfect circle, from there i moved to tool because of the mynard conection. Ive also been adding classics into the mix too, Iron Maiden ive offically labed a s0x0r r0x0r, they kick so much ass.

k0rn ive never realy gotten into, their music just has no meaning to me. Rage has to be one of the best bands ever, but im yet to listen to any filth.

My gf realy likes slipknot and ive never seen anything special about them, Wait and Bleed was pretty good, but thats all ive heard that i liked.

Finally. I didn't want to say anything on the Korn boards because those people are insane. I sort of agree with a few people here. I'm not much for garage sounds. I liked the first album. I hated Life is Peachy. The 3 that followed were pretty good. At least I liked them a lot. But this last album is just as bad as Life is Peachy. Only one song has a good feel to it and it sounds suspiciously similar to a song on the first album.

I tried playing it loud in the car and that made it worse. Jon Daivs sounds like he shouted himself hoarse. It just doesn't sound right. BTW. I'm still waiting for them to release those Jon Davis versions of the Queen of the Damned songs. Those songs kicked ass.

Wait and Bleed was good because the lyrics had a haunting story, yet the music was still rythmic, unlike everyother slipknot song ive heard. Its like metallica and st. anger, everyother album of metallica's was good cause they were hard, and fast, AND RYTHMIC. St. Anger has NO rythem at all. So find some good music, take a look at the good 80's thrash to find what slipknot is TRYING to sound like, yet thrash does it without needing 10 people to astablish some speed. Music without rythem is not music, its noise, you need rythem to make a song.

For the record, and sticking to this thread, the new singles from Korn sound good so far. The only reason they could go bad is by being overplayed, which is something the listener can control. I have all the albums. I suppose that makes me a fan. Do I suck b/c of that? Not in my opinion. I will most likely acquire the new album. Being generous, I think there may only be one song from Slipknot I like. Just not my slice of pie. I may actually prefer Mushroomhead more. Same idea, different styles. There are some great posts here and there are some severely asinine ones also. As much as I would love to get in the middle of the non-related issues on pages 2 and 3, I will wait for the appropriate thread, although one that has nothing but bitterness and hatred isn't something very appealing. But if it's flat-out stupidity, it's worth a shot. I am actually surprised the mods let this one go as far as it did.
