yum fedora is cool. i have 4 computers, one so old it's not worth tinkering with... but the other 3, i have been swapping parts in and out of. now i have 2 winxp boxes, one for me, one for my folks, and my fedora box. despite my initial problems (x wouldn't start on the first run, but did on the second?) it's pretty nice.

the fedora box is:
700mhz celeron
256mb sdram (limited to 66mhz fsb)
20gb hard drive
nvidia gf2mx200 w. 32mb vram

it's a little slow, but i plan on using it for personal storage (ftp and samba).

it's an oem computer (minus a 128mb stick of ram and the graphics card and nic) so i can't tell you stuff like temperatures.

actually, i just had to pull the gf2. it's acting funky... the computer won't even post with it in.

whatever... this isn't a gaming system, it's a server, i can deal with intel's integrated graphics.

actually, the problem is the cmos. even pulling the battery out entirely doesn't help. i'll use the computer for parts, but it's not real happy about doing anything.

i figure i can toss a hard drive in this computer, and load fedora on it, and it will a) be faster and b) not have any hardware problems and c) i wouldn't hafta worry about moving anything but a power cable and an ata cable.

i hafta use my mouse and my display (or the other option is a ball mouse and 15", 800x600 crt), so this cuts down on the amount of moving i hafta do with my hardware, and it keeps windows and linux seperate (i hear xp does not love linux as much as its predecessors)

HAH! nice try, but my parents took away my ipod.

it sucks, bc i finally decided to put in my firewire card and see how much better itunes was at updating it than mmjb.

note: itunes is a helluva lot better at updating the ipod then mmjb.

you could run the desktop from a remote computer across the network with VNC or something similar from a windows box
