I am trying to burn a few audio files on to a blank 700 mb / 80 min. cd-r and when i click the options to burn i get this message
Sorry, This Compilation contains too much data to fit on the cd with the respect of the normal cd capacity Do you want to try to overburn at your own risk doing this could harm you burner..
total capacity for burning: 65:35:31 576 mb
total capacity on disk: 60:09:00 529 mb
Should i just click overburn and ignore this message or is there anyways i can fix this..thanks

I wouldn't over burn if i were you. Not worth risking your drive just to gain a few MB.

Wouldn't that screw up the cd because it says i don't have enough room even though im using a 700mb cd

Are you burning a data cd or music cd?

Wolfie's on it, listen to him, cuz when he looked at the disk capacities you listed, he caught the problem.
We used to have pages for using Nero, if anyone can find them and list them for Explicit.

Have you only tried with the one cd? I had a new cd once that Nero kept saying was full. Defective maybe?

Music CD always need a 5-10 min empty space after you add tracks to create track list.
When look at bottom of the page in nero, are yellow and red bar set respectively at 74 and 80?
I am kinda curious when you look in file>preferences>expert features, what is the Maximun Cd length set as (don't change it)?
PS. I still would not mess with overburning and just burn enough tracks that you have room for.

There is a visual way to judge if it is worth to over burn or not on a cd. Mainly if the difference in the compacity of the and amount of data you want to burn is more than a few MB then don't go for it because it is most likely to fail. Especially if it was a audio cd it has a tendency to mess up a little bit more often it needs a little cushion to relax in. Over burning can hurt the burner so be carefull.

Hmmm...maybe try a different disc as muff_top10 suggested, because your settings seem to be ok.

Look at the discs you are using.
I overburn discs all the time and never have a problem. Nero has markers at 74mins and 80mins but that doesn't mean your discs are that size. The discs I use have 730mb on the label. When I get that overburn message in Nero, usually the most I overburn at it around 715-720mb (about 2mins) instead of just under 700mb.

when i have a 700 mb disk not 529mb..

i'd look at what others are saying that you possibly have a bad disc.

Before you do anything, at all, take a blank-assed disk, el virgino, and use Nero to note the properties. (this IS a CD-R, not RW, right?) On a fresh disk, either it has a capaity of 700+ Mb, or it does NOT. This will be roughly 80 minutes. Overburning only lets you record in to an area normally reserved for the file structure info, etc. At most, you can burn an extra 2 - 3 Mb in the proper ISO mode. Now that I mentioned the ISO, mode check that. From your post at 10:08 pm yesterday, I believe that you do not really have a problem, just a lot of overhead because you chose to make a "music CD" rather than a Data CD. (basically what wolfie already mentioned)
Look on the toolbar for "Display Disk Information" . . as I stated, on a BLANK disk, you must disregard what it says for a burned disk, as it will tell you what the "finalized" information is.
Now close Nero, and depending on the version of Nero that you use, launch the Nero > Tools > CD* and examine your disks. Check a blank one, and one that you have written, it can sheck your files, directories, and essentially do a scan disk for bad sectors.
Go to the Nero site, and read the Help Section, there are some good instructions there.
