edonkey bot harms the network, if you really like edonkey use the search engines, that is why they were created.
Many users are beginning to use a app that denies donkeybot users access.
It is not my opinion but something that was noted and then looked into by both donkeybot developer and edonkey developers. when the tests were finished the guy who makes edonkey bot crippled most of edonkey bot's features but then decided to sell the full version. Like maybe chasing the dollar and to hell with edonkey.
This is something you can verify by going to the edonkey forum or forums.

The search engines work, try them.

Rick,

Remember the LONG threads on the donkeybot subject in the old ZP forum? wish we could point some of the new users to those, there was a lot of info posted in those...................

I can't connect to shit and I've been waiting ages. Is this usual?

Is the edonkey net like OpenNap/Napster i.e. connect to a server to search. Also are the servers linked together, so if I connect to one, I search the lot?

And if you can answer this you can definately answer my question above.

go to: http://ocbmaurice.dyndns.org/

and update your server met. then connect with edonkey. It should connect now.
you must update each time you login to edonkey network.

When I search, can I only search people connected to the same server I'm connected. More to the point when I download, do I only download from people using the same server as me?

i attached an autoupdater to update your servers, and yes, it only searches the server you are on until you hit the extend search button, i just select it and hold down enter until it's gone through all the servers, gives me plenty of results.

After you get your search result, you can hit the exended search button again & hold it until it had serach all the severs on the eDonkey network for more results! Have fun!

This is a bit more hassle than Kazaa, but and I'm only getting 10KB/s but I'll stick with it.

A server is like a DC Hub really then. 'Cept the mutlisource d/l bit.

Will
the donkey is definately harder to apreciate.
I hated it when I first tried it.
Last 3 months I average 5-10 complete albums a night.

I have at least 30 files in que and yes it is slow. But if you have 30 files going, after a few days you begin completeing your files.

use the search engines near the beginning of this thread to search for files. If you want to download a file that is being share by one person, of course expect to wait a long time. I generaly look for files I want that are hosted by a few folks at the same time.
Also use the forums to find what you might like as when new files hit the donkey that is best time to download and complete faster.

There are little details to make your experience better.
If you need more hints just ask.

peace!
