as i was browsing thru there recently, i noticed most people were either complete morons, or didn't even read the story they were posting about. Also, the "first post" thing has become a source of ridicule among other p2p sites--if they don't want to register, then they don't have to post--the end

I like to see what the serious folk think about the news stories. I think most people do. We just have to put up with some nonsense too. No harm done as far as I'm concerned.

Im all for the loss off the morons. I even personally declared grabowski the king of the lemmings and suggested he lead them all off a cliff. It didnt work. A ratings system might, that way we could all vote the fools down and thereby ignore their posts. Or censoring the words first post and all derivatives of the same. I dont really know about those things, but I imagine it should not be that hard given the way curse words are recognized and changed. Or (and Im hoping the four new news mods might do some of this) review news posts for quality of comment... or at the very least for content related to the stories....
The 1st post thing was funny for a minute, now its all about kids with far too much time on their hands, not enough friends, or just a general lack of maturity. And it effects the quality of the site I guess... if these kids gave a damn they would take their little circus to a specific place on the forum, like the lounge. But their whole purpose isnt about that... its the domination of the zeropaid news posts :mellow I cant imagine aspiring to a higher position than that....

Yes! A ratings option that registered users could vote down non-registered users would be a great idea!! But it has to be REGISTERED users that have the option to vote down NON-REGISTERED users. It HAS to be this way, not, for example, non-registered users voting down registered users for no reason. Also, registered users should not be able to be voted down, because there is no need. If a registered user happens to be spamming, the admins. can just ban him.
This is a great idea, I hope someone at ZP takes notice of this.

very cool.... it should clean up the place and get it the respectability it deserves...
now, in defense of grabowski and his iguanas- and even though Ive written some interesting things about them- I think he should have a place to spout his insanities. the room crackerjacker made in the lounge is ideal, except that he has never registered in the first place.
I cant wait to see how this is implemented.... just imagine a zeropaid wih more meaningful posts...

I think that moderating what is said in the news posts is a good idea.
Having said that, if I have to click every single reply to read it I'm pretty well done. One of the coolest things about ZP is it's freedom of opinions and it's news articles. Morgrum isn't the only one who liked to see other serious people's opinions.
Frankly the way the posts would work in your link above stinks.

"Or censoring the words first post and all derivatives of the same."
Zeropaid, censoring? P2P, Zeropaid=Freedom. And now we want to censor, and put others down? Whats wrong with one post that says "first post" or anything like that. As long as its not spamming the boards with 35 or so unrelated off the wall posts. I think people are taking some things way to seriously. Everybody is becoming so uptight and bitchy. Oh well. Do what you must. I don't care.

"Squash those insignificant mental midgets!"
HAHAHA now thats comedy. But its kind of sad people are dead serious and sometimes angry. Lighten up a bit.

Im serious in that when I read forums on various pages I would expect at least the majority of them to have some relevancy to the posted story, especially in a news section. Its pretty useless, and not to mention childish if its otherwise. And hey, Im all for the foolishness, but put it in its proper place- not on the front page of a p2p news sight. Because, THAT is what zeropaid is about.
Now. As for my use of the word "censor".... it was a poor choice, I should have chosen restrict perhaps. because what I was saying is not hardly any different from the way curse words are cartoonized in the news boards. So ken, youve chosen to base an argument on the choice of wording... that reminded me of a year I worked in a law office. Whats next, the placement of a comma? And yes, that is a foolish argument, as is yours. Cyclical arguments generally are. And anyways, my first choice would be to see aratings system for registered members and more moderation, not any form of "censorship". But as I have next to no knowledge on how to implement that I can offer no help. And besides, I am sure I will be happy with whatever jorge and co come up with.
Which reminds me. Ken, all opinions expressed by me are mine, any errors or miswordings are mine. And I am in no way affiliated with ZP, other than as a member. so if you must post your prouncement of censorship replace zeropaid with gorphon. now that would be entertaining.

kinda reminds me of what they have over at kuro5in.org... in reality its not that bad cheapprick. if you click on one of the trunk branches you will get all direct replies below that as well. on a site like kuro5shin, and if you dont use the rating system they have, you may have as many as 500 messages to click through on any given story. On zeropaid, especially WITH a ratings system, it would only be slightly more confusing then just getting a long list... and add to that that no more "read more" buttons to click... Id say its a better set up, what jorge showed is just a small example of what will happen if its implemented. Check out kuro5hin (http://www.kuro5hin.org). personally I think its a pretty good setup.

I have been on zeropaid since it began and honestly it has suffered a lot lately. I have been ignoring most of the posts and not even caring to check what is being said. I sure would like to see it more like the way Jorge began this forum.
I am sure it can be, it is ok to have fun and be silly but most of what I see has no relavence to what this forum was intended.
Or keep all the non p2p in it's own area or be deleted.
It's really very simple. If you want to know and learn, discuss about p2p news and information you go and find a site that is dedicated to that. Well this was that site.
I don't think it's a uptight attitude being displayed here, just a want to have reasonable communication.
It's like your talking with your friends and someone comes and acts a fool to make you laugh, cool, great....now can we be cool act right also?
:-)
Peace you all!

kuro5shin, has a great system and if that doesn't work you could always use a system for posting simular to what /. uses not perfect but it works, keeps out all but the hardiest trolls.

:devil Anything that keeps the news posts for what they were intended for is a step in the right direction. I don't want to see this site go down in a flood of 1st posts. If you've got something to say that is relevant or at least isn't jibberesh then no problem. If you just want to say 1st post all the time, Usenet awaits you.

something should be done, I enjoy reading an article about a program and then posting about it. I cannot stand people who just post to be dumb, for example, if there is an article concerning Kazaa and some moron just posts "kazaa suuuuuuucks!!!!!!!!!!!! WINMX RULES!!!!! get off of fasttrack is SOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOW!!!!!
It obviously has NOTHING to do with what the article is about. Its posts like these that irrate me more the 1st post, because in my experience the ppl that write 1st post also have some input.... again thats in my experience.

Which is why i think getting rid of news comments altogether would be a good thing.. These morons to some degree represent the people who visit this site and not only are they giving a very immature and false impression about people who visit this site but File Sharing in general.. These are the same morons who think this site is about piracy and I wouldnt miss them if they left and went to there precious AOL underground...
