I know this is a bit odd question but I have been looking to solve it for some time. I was looking for some software to make instrumentals from regular music files with vocals on them, If it is possible could someone please stear me in the direction of the software. Thanks

So you mean to take a song, remove the vocals and be left with just the instrumental part? I dont think thats possible. Its all in one audio track. The best you could do is remove a certain frequency range, but you'd be cutting out a lot of the music along with the voices.
You could allways find the karoke mix of it and go from there...

I also dont think its possible, but it's pretty easy to find instrumentals especially hip-hop/rap instrumentals.

I used to have some little box I got at radio shack that you hook up to your stero and you could turn the words on music nearly off, you had to lisen really close to kinda hear them, the music was not really affected by it, havent seen any software tho havent looked

Get Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and mess with the filters there(Some of them have "Vocal Cut" presets). However, you will always be able to hear artifacts of the vocals if you listen close enough. It's nearly impossible to get rid of all the Vocal frequencies without cutting into the song. I do think you will save your time just by looking for an Instrumental version online.

try lookin for karoke stuff there is loads of that goddam awful stuff all over irc channels that seem to offer only that y? i have no idea i think there was a winamp plugin that claimed to rip the vocals but as has been stated above these things dont work unless your tone deaf and have $10 speakers
