Hello, again, everyone. It has been a very long time since I have posted here. I have a question concerning America Online: Is there a way to downgrade from AOL 8.0 to AOL 7.0? Thank you, everyone, for your time once again. Goodbye.
P.S. This is not for me. I understand my ignorance in the past, but PLEASE believe me when I say that this is not for me. This is for a friend who will only use AOL, and nothing else. OUCH... stings, doesn't it?

Hey you, ironic that we both show up on the same day.
Instruct your friend to WRITE DOWN the phone numbers and setting for their setup, then go to Control Panel, and UNinstall AOL v8.
Reboot, then look for ANY folders under the C: Program Files, etc, that say AOL, and DELETE them.
In fact, delete ANYTHING that says AOL on it.
Now, put in the AOL 7 CD, and do the installation, go thru the wizard, and give it a try.
the fact that they want to go BACK makes me think that they are having issues, that v7 will not fix, such as getting online, etc etc.
If you need anything, PM or email me,
cheers

You can also upgrade to the 9.0 Optimized which is better than 8.0. The (AOL) Beta site has downloads all the way back to 5.0 if you needed them. I believe you would have to agree to be a tester to download these old versions but then again, one of the major download sites, like download.com may have it available. I might even have the 7.0 install.exe at home.

If you don't have the CD for 7.0, you can get an older version off this site: http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=aol . Unfortunately thats 5.0 :(
Maybe try http://www.bumpersoft.com/Internet/Miscellaneous_Tools_and_Utilities/D_870_index.htm
