do you still have the origanl file ? before you join'd them ? also see what happens when you try to play with avi preview

I would split it and see if you can play second segment by itself . If that works then re-join it yourself.
The scew-up couls have been from an bad original second segement or when it was joined. Either way make back-up of the original.

use the mpeg splitter/joiner tool within TMPGENC File-Mpeg tools and such put both of the files in the correct order ofcourse then start it should take some time to complete though depending weather its mpeg-1 or 2 and the encoding bitrate file size etc.hopes this helps ya.

ummmm the file did originally work before. after i joined them together the first time it was working perfectly. and so i deleted the files of course. and since then i have watched it many times and it worked but now it doesnt. i use windows media player so i'll try that zoom one. and this same problem occurs with all my joined mpegs they use to work but somehow they all stopped working at the same time.

hey that zoom player unfortunately did not work. i think this is a problem with the codec, possibly windows media player updated it, and the software that joined the mpegs did in such a way that makes these not work now. i used a program called Mpg Join.

I'd try another media player like winamp or do a search on google. Someone here probably knows of a better video player. Good luck

maybe give BSplayer (http://www.bsplayer.org ) a try it usually is a pretty sweet video player.
