AGP Acceleration

What is it ? Why does my system not have it enabled ? How can I enable it (if I can) ?

Windows 2000
512 SD Ram
32 DDR ATI Video card

Could this also be the reason why Windows XP completely fucks up everytime I try to start it up ?

AGP is a motherboard feature! (see below) If the motherboard doesn't support an 8x AGP card then it is decreased to a compatible multiple, 1x, 2x, 4x. It's not really a software thing.

So how many times (2x,4x,8x are common) is your AGP card and what does your motherboard support?

If windows xp messes up, it a feature, not a problem :mellow A device conflict may be a reason why it is not working.

AGP - Accelerated Graphics Port. An interface specification from Intel that enables 3-D graphics to display quickly on personal computers. AGP is based on PCI, but is designed especially for the high throughput requirements of 3-D graphics. Rather than using the PCI bus for graphics data, AGP introduces a dedicated point-to-point channel so that the graphics controller can directly access main memory

I think he knows what AGP is, just not what AGP acceleration is.

Moony, is this a bios or windows setting? Know what kind of motherboard you have? Where did you see this "feature"?

Its probably those Great ATi Drivers that is causing the problem then. Since it should be able to detect AGP itself and shouldnt be causing problems. If that is the case then it is likely a driver problem.

AGP Acceleration, to achieve this you have to twiddle your thumbs til your nose bleed, or simply put the gas peddle down farther. Maybe even changing out floppy drives.. Did you check your tire pressure? OH i duno anymore. =) Hope someone comes along and correct me and help you through your problem.

it told me that i should enable that when i installed Max Payne 2....

but i don't know how to either.

It never asked for my with my Ti4200 on MP2. I'd still guess its in the BIOS, I went through and tweaked a bunch there a while back and have never seen that

AGP is a motherboard feature!

This is another reason why I encourage everyone to use the latest chipset drivers for their MB. Also, Aida32, will tell you much.

Download your MB manual, and read it carefully, make sure you have the right options enabled, which are supported by your card.
