can anyone help me with the correct settings for allowing messenger to be able to send and recieve files? 'cuz as it stands right now I can't do neither, I've tried messing with various ports in Norton Personal Firewall, but of course it is only a software FW so the access is rather limited and somewhat confusing so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx

I don't currently have a software firewall on, but you should be able to enable "allways ask" or something. Then it should ask you "can msn messenger connect on port blah to IP blah?" Write down the port, then forward that.

I'll check for stuff on their website quick.

hey thanks phalk, that sheds a little more light on why I'm not being able to transfer to certain people, I'm guessing they don't have the correct ports open on their end

If you're both behind a firewall, and only one of you opens ports, its my understanding you cannot connect.
