Helllllp !! I am using windows xp and my cdrom drivers are disable by it each time i boot up, the error window tells me that they have been disabled because they cause instability. I loaded my easy cd creator program and then uninstalled it, it left difect cd on the drive with no unninstaller (can't get it gone now) and cant upgrade to newer version cause it won;t while old one is still there. any one know how to solve this?

Help and advice very much appreciated

I have never used this program, but first, I would make sure it isn't running in your startup apps, if so, disable it, then I'd delete the program folder. Next, back up your registry, then try deleting it from there as well. I hope this of some help. Good luck!

What are the exact words of the error message bradz? Try typing them into google to see if anyone else is having the same problem. Post them here and I will have a go as well. Gives you something to do whilst you wait for other replies.
Hopefully RACKnRAIL has solved it - but if not you know what to do next.

There are known issues with EZ CD creator and Win XP, especially version 5.xx. EZ CD loads legacy drivers that conflict with WIN XP. I had this problem and Microsoft Tech Support sent this reply. It worked beautifully for me, I hope it does the same for you.

Following is a summary of the key points for your records.

ACTION----------------------------------------------------------------------
---
Install Path: Clean Install of Windows XP Home Ed.

- EZ CD Creator has been uninstalled.
- Windows is activated.
- SP1 is installed.

RESULT----------------------------------------------------------------------
--
- After upgrading EZ CD Creator Basic to EZ CD Creator Platinum 5.01, the
drives are no longer viewable under My Computer, and they show up as having
driver issues in Device Manager.

CAUSE-----------------------------------------------------------------------
--
- Filter drivers installed by EZ CD Creator

RESOLUTION----------------------------------------------------------------
- Backup the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ key
to the desktop and verify that it is present.
- Delete the Lower filters (and or Upper filters) from the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11C
E-BFC1-08002BE10318} key
- Restart the system;
- The drives are back and recognized.

Cheers Phalkon!! I have downloaded patches and can install easy cd creator (all versions) but when i open them just get cannot initialise engine message. My burner is spittin out disks, gettin about 1 outta 4 burned
and thats after the test has said it can be created at x4 or x8. Using Nero the same happens. Tried various media disks still same, even media player refuses to copy faster than x2. Beginning to suspect burner (Iomega zip cd 650)
