Try Google son, it was a leaked version of course they would not have anything to say about it.

I'm NOT saying that I have used this... but I am saying you will see no difference between 5 and 3 unless your an audiophile.
Personally IMO, you should stick with v2

Freeform skins on the 2.x platform is another feature you'll notice.

My "friend" has tried it and "he" tells me that all the leak version has new is the WinAmp 3.x freeform style skinning. "He" also tells me that it crashes sometimes when "he" loads some skins. "He" has also told me that theyre some sort of cd ripping. "He" also tells me the default skin is the same one as in v2.x.

This isn't a direct link either but you can find winamp5 at www.swapciety.com
I feel bad directing you to that website since the people there lied to us and spammed vaporware but if you want winamp5 that is one place to get it. Winamp5 is basically like the latest winamp2 right now.

Eheh...I think I'm a bit late here but swapciety was confirmed vaporware?

Winamp seemed to ruin themselves when they went into video, they should have stuck with what they were good at. Hopefully when version 5 is released I will be proven wrong.

yea I will have to agree with you (god forbid) but once they went to "trying to play video it is not the same"

I also agree, but I really think that Winamp was ruined when AOL bought Nullsoft. AOL is converting Winamp into the "AOL Media Player" so it (AOL) can stop depending on Real or WiMP.

Why so secretive? Someone posted a link a while back linking directly to the leaked Winamp 5. Winamp has ALWAYS been freeware, and nullsoft doesn't care that it was "leaked" (Staged beta test?) so no worries about the mods editing posts.

Dub says links to free ware are ok, but not attachments.
Looks good to me. Keeps us out of k-lite hell.

The thread was removed from winamp forums, but for a while, they were threatening to sue anybody that even "talked" about having a copy, much less distributing it.
It was "illegally" distributed, and still is property of AOL/Nullsoft, so they were getting pissy. Now it seems they're almost welcoming beta testing info...heh.

2.91 is awsome, version 3 is just laggy and crashes alot, not to mention that it doenst have a working library for audio and video streamcasts.
As for version 5 I can immagine that it will be even more laggy and crash even more, i just cant wait :] .
Comeon you know you want it.
Just found a link for it, http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/11/1/1/11-1-1-66.shtml apparently its a public release so have fun.

I really have no clue what they were thinking when they made version 3, it uses more resources then music match jukebox with a hell of a lot less features. I stuck with the 2.xx series, but so far 5 is looking to be pretty good.
Though it still doesn't have the feature i want the most, and that is a library feature like Music Match, thats all i want, is an mp3 player light on resources that indexes my library without excess baggage or code.

Just because softnews posts it, doesn't mean its a final or public release. I'm surprised to see working links for downloads...shortly after it was "leaked" most tech sites were asked to remove download links.
Version 5 uses less resources than 2.91 for me (although possibly more than 2.81). I've never had a crash, and some minor bugs have been fixed since 2.81.
