Robert Palmer is dead of a heart-attack. Known for his songs "Simply Irresistible" and "Addicted To Love", he died at age 54 of a heart attack. May his eternal rest be filled with hot women dancing to his tunes.

A lot of death in the news lately... why won't people quit dying? ;)

This is bad news, this guy contributed a lot to what other performers later took out well beyond the pale. He seems to have single-handedly created the sharp-lookin not-trying-to-tell-the- story music video and added style and panache to a frivoulous form that might otherwise have been limited to people like Ray Stevens and country musicians.
Wooah
A hot summer night, fell like a net
I've gotta find my baby yet
I need you to soothe my head
Turn my blue heart to red
Doctor, doctor give me the news
I've got a bad case of lovin' you
No pill's gonna cure my ill
I've got a bad case of lovin' you
A pretty face don't make no pretty heart
I learned that buddy, from the start
You think I'm cute, a little bit shy
Momma, I ain't that kind of guy
... Wooah
I know you like it, you like it on top
Tell me momma are you gonna stop
You had me down, 21 to zip
Smile of Judas on your lip
Shake my fist, knock on wood
I've got it bad and I've got it good

I can't say that i liked his music a lot - to me it sounded like ordinary pop music, but anyway - to be dead at 54 isn't a good thing. R. I. P.

I was not a big fan of Mr. Palmer. But the death of a talented artist is always a great loss to the music world. My sympathy to the man's family, friends and fans.

The guy was good. I will miss him, as will my sister who had a brief relationship with his son whilst at school in Southampton about 10 years ago.

The world has just lost one of the greatest R&B voices. This cat didn't just front a band of chicks for an MTV video and do T Rex covers--check out his older stuff with Vinegar Joe or Dada, but especially his first solo album Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley, where he was backed up by the Meters and Little Feat. Imho, when Lowell George died in '79, Feat should have got Palmer to fill on the vocs (though no one could replace LG on the slide guitar). Then the stuff he after that, wasn't all just a "Bad Case Of Loving You" but he had Chris Franz from Talking Heads and Gary Numan backing him up...By the time Riptide came out in '85 I bought it just on principle--then "Addicted To Love" took off and the rest is history. But anyone who thinks Robert Palmer was just a two-and-a-half hit wonder, go check out Clues, Some People Can Do What They Likeand especially Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley. A very versatile singer and extremely well-dressed man.
