I was wondering the same thing. I even tried changing to another one. In the signature block on the edit profile page, it says " HTML code is off" I'll bet that's the problem!!

It seems that way for everybody. My HTML has always been off. I have always been able to link to a URL but never have I been able to use the HTML. I also wish someone would explain that one to me. Everybody's URL to their JPG'S are not working

Oh don't start with the toes again. Next thing you know he'll be donning the thong again and I don't think in my weakened state that I can take that.

You can thank ESV for that.

how exactly did ES5 cause you guys to turn off your own pictures in sigs feature?

seems a bit too vague, care to clarify

and before anyone says they found out, I use es5, I am a long time member
i have no need to hide it, i am not coming here to flame, just asking a straight forward question, and a small one at that

Just to clarify, you mean [IMG] tags, or the image tag. Those have allways been turned off in the forums, just not in sigs

Hmm, I guess I'm not sure...I like some of the new changes, I'm constantly finding new features, I'm assuming that the colors are still being worked on, looks like a mix of the standard vB graphics with some of the old ZP look. If not, yuck.

I don't think jorge ment that ESV dirrectly made us turn off sigs, I think they were just causing some problems and it was easier to turn them off for now (just my guess)

Jorge when you say "you can thank esv for that", were you implying that their was some sort of exploit involving the [img] code that you suspect esv kiddies to be taking advantage of ? Or is my imagination just that lame.

No problem, i can explain. When you use a image in your signiture that is hosted on a remote server, you can track the ip adresses of users downloading that file (In order to view the file, it must be downloaded from somewhere).

So just to limit the childish acts done by other p2p companies we have taken some steps to avoid further problems. Hope this helps.

/me sticks foot in mouth

I really didn't want to get into this...but I'll say my GUESS. ZP recieved serveral complaints about the little pictures that display your IP adress. They thought they had been hacked. That wouldn't be a big deal (just explain how it works, its a harmless script), but ESV took advantage of this, and said it was part of Zp's "evil plan" and that ZP is logging IP's to sell to the RIAA.

The easiest way to reduce confusion, IMO, is to do what Jorge did, and dissable img tags for the moment, till things can be sorted out.

EDIT: oops, took too long...good to know I was pretty much right for once! :)

No problem, i can explain. Damn, thank you Jorge. i have been walking so soft around this one waiting for you guys to settle the fighting about this. You are nothing if not honest, thanks for speaking up.

As for why it is es5's fault they let one of their mods make that page and brag about it in a place where they thought they were private. That's criminal.

There's no privacy on the internet guys.

It's a major shame because of what the assholes at ES5 caused thatwe all have too suffer. It doesn't see right that we should all have to pay the penalty for what they did. I hope you all decide to turn them back on in the near future. Is that why HTML is turned off too Thanx I appreiate it.

PS I like the new disign It will take some getting used too

:devil dowm with the RIAA & MPAA--and some member's of Congress too :devil

I think it was seph who explained in another thread why html was turned off. Its mainly for security reasons, there are so many vulnerabilitys, plus you could actually do IP logging very easily. Basicly its just a bad idea, and there is no need for it to be on.

Finally, an answer to my troll infestation. I hope it lasts as long as possible. It would speed things up also. Too bad my "hosts" ".txt" file didn't work.

I've been avoiding this too. Didn't know how to ask without sounding like I'm starting something. I've been asking around in PMs though. Thanks to everyone there.

I think you misunderstood kyle, signatures are NOT turned off. Just the images inside of them.

If you find the sigs anoying, you can choose to not display them, along with avatars (and one other option I can't remember), should be in your CP
