Time Warner Cable has gone to 3Mbps download speeds. Upload is still 384Kbps. This is for sure true in Kansas City, and should be correct for other Time Warner locations. Formerly the download was 2Mbps.

With the right tweaks I've always maintained 3.5mbps. You mean connection speeds I hope.

Heh, you guys suck. Our cable starts at 256/128. From there you can upgrade to 512/128, 768/128, or 1meg a sec/128. At 768/128 we're paying over a hundred bucks a month. Pure insanity really....and they're the only broadband in our area (other than dsl which is slower and more expensive)

I'm ADSL, 1.5mbps down, 128k up. But I don't have or want cable TV, so adding cable just for some transfer speed isn't really worthwhile for me. So, I'm happy enough. Plus, I'm SBC, and they're fighting hard to keep their customer information private. They deserve my business just for that. ;)

HAHA I donno about that dude...I got a semi-machine sounding call about calling them back.
So either
A) They fucked up some billing shit on my phone bill or the ISP section.
B) I'm getting the 'letter' .
C) They're trying to sell me more crappy line addons....lol
Either way my bank account is pretty much empty...lets see 'em milk my fucking fire proof safe....
Fucking cable people....you guys suck ass! lol

Is the Time Warner ISP not really strict on filesharing? The only stories I've heard of people being accused of downloading copyright material in the UK involve AOL. It is often accusations of using BitTorrent to download films.

I use Comcast, 1.5/128 don't care too much about upload. Their offering 3.5 cable for 100 dollars. Can't wait till i'm at Univesity of Washington unlimited T3, it's gonna be off the heaze.

I've been using TWC Roadrunner now for a little over 2 years and I have never received any static from them for filesharing. I'm sure they don't like it but they realize without P2P fewer people would go broadband.

In my Area of Pa. We have basically two choices Verizon and Comcast. Verizon is 1.5Mbs 128Mbs. The price is only $34.95 With MSN 8.5 included.
Comcast is $49.95 for 1.5Mbs and for the faster speed it run's about $99.00 bucks or so. Which is out of my price range.

Comcast speeds are on the rise. I've read that Comcast is raising their broadband cable speeds to 3mb instead of the standard 1.5,
Users should notice the speed increase some time this winter. It really depends on what area you live in.

My cable speeds (first was excite@home, then AT&T, now Comcast) have always been more than plenty (around 2Mbits or more). They are still raising the bandwidth, but raising the prices as well. I'd like to see more upload personally, I'd give 50KB/s of download to gain that much upload. There's lots of people in my personal darknets (cool word huh?) that want files from me and it takes forever for them to get them. It's $53 a month, but that includes free basic cable.
That's interesting that Time Warner is an ISP, and a Record Label (movie studio too). Like Sony, they too have a lot to gain from file sharing. But they are too stupid to figure it out.

My Time Warner now offers 3Mbps download, if you pay $89 a month, and they still cap you at 40GB/month of total bandwith. I'm switching to earthlink.

Just a thought, but would Time Warner the Record Company threaten file sharing customers of Time Warner the Internet Service provider?
Since they are a major part of RIAA, the RIAA boycott should apply to the ISP also, should it not?

There was only one person in the list of people being sued.

So one of the largest internet service providers in the USA has only a single person being sued, or less than half a percent of the total? That's got to be more than just coincidence. I wonder if customers of the ISPs that actively fought RIAA, like SBC and Verizon, have a proportionally much greater number of lawsuits?

I would really like to see more statistics on this specifically the amount of people being sued by the parent company time warner cable. Because if the amount of people being sued is not inclusive to aol users then it seems like it would be a good idea to use this in court against the riaa.
I mean the riaa represents the five major record companies so really this is quite interesting. I mean its purely bogus to sue your own customers in the first place but fair is fair.
Someone must really look into this, because if the riaa is only focusing on internet service providers that are not affiliated with the the riaa then thats a problem.
They should of never allowed time warner cable to be an internet provider in the first place. The reason why is smaller internet service providers have gone out of business because of this.
So yeah I am really complaining about this but it is because what is fair is fair.
But as far as the other thing I am glad you guys are getting a faster downloadd. I have lived up to my contract with verizon dsl and i obtained a free modem from them.
I pay 39.99 a month, but I should be able to get dsl for 34.99 lol. I can cancelled from them but I wont. Matter of fact, 40 dollars is not so bad because I have unlimited newsgroup access.
hmm anyway congrads to you people for getting more download speed. I would of love to get more upload speed because I am limited to 16kbs and when I upload my adsl line some times stops to a halt and I am unable to surf the web when I am uploading.
But hey at least some people have a good deal. woot

Comcast Cable is supposed to double their download speeds to 3mbps/256kbps for the same price by the end of the year
You know why? So there won't be any competition and everybody is going to pick them
And if they really do that..they will succeed at becoming the best in w/e areas they already rule
There really wont be any competition when they offer 3mbps/256kbps for the same price as now

When I first went to AOL Broadband my speed was 2.8MB....now it seems to average about 2.6...I have seen 3.2MB a few times. There is no cap, it is only 1 year old in my area of the states. As for the RIAA & Time Warner, it has been posted many times that NO AOL users have been served as of yet.

In the Pittsburgh area where I live. Comcast charges $45.95 for 1.5mbs and 256Mbs upload speed. I have talked with their rep and they have a faster speed, but it costs much more money. The price quoted is if you lease a modem from them and does NOT include the cost of cable tv serice which for regular cable is $40.00 dollars. So I will stick with Verizon for now. at $29.95

Yeah I probaly am. Comcast here is Greensburg where I live has 1.5Mbs for $45.95 and 3.0 approx for$95.00 and is the only two speeds they offer here. I will stay with what I have 1.5Mbs for $34.95 and I get a $5.00 discount so I pay only $29.95 The speed is pretty good and i have had no problems downloading music and other stuff so far.
