sorry to be a party pooper, but I chose the 3rd option. There have been tons of petitions on this very subject. People write stupid crap in the petition like "Death to RIAA". If your gonna have a real petition, people need to write in sensible prose. My 2nd point is it wouldnt make a difference anyway. Write to congress instead.

See now heres what Im talking about look at this signature:

Is the logic here, if enough of us ask them to leave us alone, they will? That's just not going to happen.

like a petition will stop the RIAA.

I am against them stopping p2p since i distribute files on p2p that are legal to copy.

therefore they musn't close p2p.

This isn't really a viable petition, it's more like a stacked poll. A real petition would be shorter, to the point, and directed at someone in particular with the power to redress or relieve a wrong. This thing is cut-and-paste news followed by some guy's life story and some general whining, without a clear picture as to what the undersigned are agreeing to, and that sort of thing is kind of useless. Not completely useless I guess, but not even as effective as an unstacked poll would be.

What if they grant our petition, will that make us all 22 years old? Or implement all these things in the news story? Or answer questions for our amusement? We appear to be demanding Internet Warfare, how will the congress interpret that? It just goes on.

Please spend the time you might waste on this lame distraction mailing and faxing your congressman instead, and try to stick to the point when you do.

If you want to make a difference write a letter to your local rep. It's the only way.

It's a cliché but it's fuckin correct:

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

We make tools that make them unable to fuck with us (yes, YAWN, anon-p2p), then they can't fuck with us!

See. Simple isn't it.

Are you angry at the RIAAs rhetoric or are you pissed that they're trying to screw up kids lives? (and adults!!)

Yeah, if they only engaged in words we'd not care but they don't, they actively try to fuck us over.

A petition is just words. Action is what is required. Ask someone else what action though, I'm an idiot and would just come out with stupid ideas!
