Shareaza Doesn't Download

I recently downloaded shareaza, having finally gotten sick of kazaa (and kazaa lite) stealing all my resources and slowing up my poor computer. Everything is fine except for one problem: why is my shareaza so slow to connect and start downloading songs? i've only been able to download one song in two days! it just sits there and says "pending" or "active". if anyone has any advice please share it...

Let me guess Shareaza is downloading off from the eDonkey network?

The eDonkey network is always slow.

Don't expect amazing speeds like from Kazaa.

i just set it so it doesnt connect to the edonkey network. That way u connect to the g1 and the g2 networks.

I have noticed that Shareaza is having a hard time with G1 in general on my system, I can connect to older G1 nodes like gnucleus, but it seems as if limewire and bearshare have blacklisted shareaza as being a leaf node. In the console it's rejection after rejection very quickly.

Good choice on getting rid of kazaa... it sucks :] Shareaza/Emule may not have the speed of kazaa, but it has brilliant file intergrity and is great for stuff. Use G1 and G2 for music singles, use emule for movies, albums, cd images and anything else, personally, i use emule seperately as i get better speeds from it. Also for best speeds start multiple transfers, and use the sites like sharereactor.com
