Fixed the news comments bug.... was bugging me. Might switch to using the forum for news comments...... thoughts?

Having everything under the same software would be easier to manage and it would bring more news related discussions to the forums which would be nice.

*nods* good idea yes, would that mean people would have to register before posting news comments? In which case GREAT idea

I can' t really decide wither bringing the news story commentaries in the forum would alieviate the "1st post" crap or make it an additional problem for the mods in the forums?

On the other hand you have more flexability to go back and edit comments in the forum format as oppose to the current news commentary section.

ironically, i was reading a thread that suggested the same thing about a year ago.....

but i do like the idea :)

and this is why i like it....

the way it is now, the comments are hard to read...and hard to edit/moderate. another problem, is you have to keep checking back for more comments every 3 seconds to make sure that no one does anything stupid....

but with it integrated into the forum software, i could easily subscribe to the news comment forum and be notified by email when there are new comments.

i think this would be a great change to make.

I have thought this since you first asked, and I think it is worth a try. Yes it might result in more work, but it will also give more controll of things. Thumbs up from me.

I don't mind the comments the way they are right now but I hate it when I can't edit my comments so... I guess I agree too.

cpu is absolutely right, the current system is incredibly hard to moderate since you have to sift through dull, unformated html in order to find a usually racist/stupid/hateful remark that can be posted again to no limit.

There is no way to deter spammers either unless you can get ahold of a forum mod or administrator. Whatever happens, a new system needs to be implemented in order for the news section to stay clean and crisp.

There is a few ways that it can be adminstrated in few different ways. Which the best one is dependent on how its added if it is and what that will do with the forums which its really no different than the forums just expanding and there is more things to do but there is a couple of different options to handle it.

Status Update? It would be really nice to have vBulletin for the news comments...
