I tried to run my shareaza today like normal, but it keeps coming up with an announcement that runtime must shut this program down in an unusual way and to check with the program support team for the application. I even went to zero.paid.com and downloaded a new shareaza and uninstalled the old,but same story.I tried going back 2 days and restoring on the computer panel, but still the same.Has anyone else had any trouble? I was on it last night without difficulty. Thanks for any and all help.

unless i'm mistaken....shareaza is NOT programmed in VB.

does it give an error message?

if so, please post it here.

Woah, you sure that's really shareaza? It's programmed in C++, not VB. I'd be sure you're getting the right version.

Yeah, the latest versions (1.8.9.9 and higher) even include the runtimes with the installation.

Are there any particular steps that lead up to the crash? What networks are you connected to? Were there any searches/downloads/uploads running when it crashed? Any little thing is useful in troubleshooting.

I know what you mean.... I am getting the exact same problem. I am not able to get into Shareaza for the damn c++ runtime error message. All that happens is the splash screen comes up and it is loading and then it comes up with the message. Do not even get close to connecting to networks.

I have installed the most recent version of Shareaza and that does not fix it and have also tried running the vb6runtime files as well with no luck.

This problem started happening as soon as I installed XP SP2.

Anyone got any ideas?

Bob

The following allowed me to start shareaza for a while, but now the problem has reappeared, with no torrent downloads at all. Possibly there is some sort of corruption in the incomplete files which is causing the problem?

I started having the same problem after using torrent files for the first time. I moved the torrent files I was downloading from the Incomplete downloads directory and Shareaza resumed starting up normally.

Hope this helps.

Uninstall shareaza and reinstall it.

I have another unrelated problem, all the metadata was not showing up, I.E. I couldn't search for just movies. Eventually I uninstalled and reinstalled into a differently named directory, and everything works!
