I honestly think it caused that power outage, how bad do you think it is? The stupid newscasters in Washington are saying "Can it happen hear" of course it can dumb asses. West Coast is bull shit sometimes.

It didn't cause the Northwest power outage. That was caused by a Power Grid failure. Most likely lightning on Niagra Falls is what they say.
How bad is the virus? Pretty damn bad. I didn't get it, but I heard.

Sock, not lightning on Niagara falls.
Reports I heard were lightning hit a Niagara Mohawk power station in Canada.

I think this is another BS thread, what good is an opinion poll on this?
If you want an answer, read the news.

LOL! It is kind of sensationalistic isn't it? Ya know as far as technology advances there is still lots of things that technology can't fix right now. This is an example of that, nothing more and nothing less.

Not to be one that likes to strive while others are dying, but does anybody else notice how fast the internet is tonight? Maybe that's just me being in NJ just outside of the blackout zone. But I'm zipping through tonight. NY traffic isn't clogging up the cyber-system.

Back on topic... I didn't get the virus (I installed the updates) but most of my friends did. I've never had so many people call me to fix their computer until MSBlaster came around.
I ran a port 135/4444 honeypot, and within minutes I had dozens of infected hosts trying to connect and infect me, nearly all from my ISP. Its pretty bad.

I received the virus when I was just sitting here reading a book. And I had no idea what it was, never heard of it before that day I received it.

I didn't get it (install Win updates and AV definitions regularly), but my neighbor got it the other day when he logged on to the net for the first time with his new PC...happened pretty quick...he didn't have any idea what to do...called tech support but they were jammed. He was so damn happy when I fixed it for him. I'll bet that same scenario has happened a bunch...someone gets a new computer without the current updates on it, and BAM, here comes Blaster Worm.

HideWindow" is a utility that will run a program while hiding its user's interface. Although there are many valid uses for such a program, many trojan packages make use of this tool to run standard programs, such as FTP servers, mIRC, etc, while hiding them from the display

Just re-formatted. Patch installed. Anti-virus up to date, and running. Firewall tight as a drum. So far, so good. But I'm getting hundreds of these every day.
