I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows XP Pro, but I have more than more computer.

I heard that you can only install Windows XP Pro on one computer only.

Can I install Windows XP Pro on more than one computer?

Do I have to get more than one license key?

So can I just use the same license key for multiple installations?

that is incorrect.

on Home and Pro, you have to purchase additional licenses for every computer you install windows on.

however, there are cracked versions that allow multiple installations (illegally of course)

id imagine with xp pro you could install it on more than one system, since its for business, but i guess thats not the case, i do know that xp home you cant do it.

if you were a business wouldnt you have to get an oem license in order to install xp pro on multiple comps? cause i have seen some schools have oem licenses on there windows machines and its the same copy of in this case 95.

if you are a business, you buy a corporate license that allows you to install it on unlimited PCs...most illegal copies online are the corporate edition, thus enabling you to install multiple times.

It should work fine but if you upgrade to sp1 on one machine you wont be happy.

You could "get" 1 cd key for 1 machine, but thats not legal either.

Sure...why not, microsoft knows that probably at least 30% of all windows users are running illlegal copies, my ass they can go after all those ppl from whom they have hints that they're not running a legal copy, and if they do, there not gonna go after the individuals who don't even live anywhere close to the states!!!

As stated above, Yes, you technically have to have a separate license for each computer. I know people that have cracked versions of windows which is fine, I guess, but when you go to update your OS it sends so many packets back and forth to microsoft so you kind of watch your ass if you know what I mean but on the same token I kind of dougbt that they will start targeting individual users with lawsuits and other penalties. Microsoft makes enough money anyways. I've also noticed that some pirated versions of windows come with errors and tend not to work right. Kazaa is the worst place to get it one. Me, personally, I buy my OS but tend to pirate everything else.
