Are these the things that you have to buy in a store?

Right. I heard about them.

Primitive silver disks the size of plates I believe.

I think it's incredible you can get plates with music on. So sparkly too.

What's a store?

EDIT: MacGyver - I agree with you for now. A good house track keeps me young. I'm actually 138, but it doesn't show.

I listen to a lot of new music. Some of it is pretty good. But I've yet to hear any band that can even come close to the talent of these guys.

I'd have to agree there.

and.........................................

Tool is the Led Zeppelin of modern times in my opinion.

creative, talented, thought provoking all with the best drummer currently on planet earth.

I could live with just Tool and Zeppelin for the rest of my days.

Oh yea man, a perfect circle so ru... uh.. wait, I DON'T like a perfect circle, I was mistaken and caught up in the complementary bull. PLEASE, just say that it is good, less bandwidth that way.

The band isn't bad, if fact, it's ok, but too much popularity surrounding them, people pretend to love them to gain friends and it just pisses me off.

/me thinks that you shouldn't REALLY pay attention to him, he's just a raving lunatic

PatientSaint
August 10th, 2003, 10:20 PM
I more think that's a severe cop out.

oh i don't like something because it's popular....lame.

Perhaps they're just a REALLY good band...

I hate it when people give me crap for liking a popular band. Just because I like them doesn't mean its because they are on the radio. MAYBE it's because I think they are talented and I enjoy their stuff.

This is baseless speculation... and I must say that the recent Thursday tracks that I have heard are not heralding their triumphant re-emergence into the limelight... I like Tool, but their last album was less than half of their previous effort.

For all of this naysaying to others, I will give my recent CD: The Mars Volta "De-Loused in the Comatorium," perhaps the most innovative and haunting album I have ever heard.

That is probably the most amazing cd of the summer.

Thrice was good too (and Fairweather, Poison the Well, Every Time I Die).

But I'm looking forward to Thursday's new album.

I am looking forward to the new Thursday CD, but their last few songs have been kinda weak... "Jet Black New Year" and "For the Workforce, Drowning" are not even as good as any of the tracks off of "Waiting." I "previewed" a few leaked songs that were cut off in the center, and the beginnings sounded good at least. Hopefully they were just discarding the trash with these singles on EP's and comps.

I was just responding to the original question asking about albums that had come out recently. BTW, I think that it is strange that someone is comparing albums that are out with just speculation (not you Sock, you are responding to what the first guy said) with something that they have not yet heard. Finally, APC is of a far lower level than Tool and cannot be compared to them other than having the same lyricist/singer.

@wingnut - right on all counts, especailly that "Waiting" was Thursday's best CD, and APC doesn't even touch tool.
@Patientsaint - I, too look forward to APC's new CD.

Tool's Last album was amazing and it was far beyond most people sadly...

APC is grand in their own way.. it's really unfair to compare the two. The most obvious is also the best connection in Maynard who really constitues in my opinion one of the truest artist the industry has or ever will see perhaps. Either way I think the two are up in my personal favorites catergory.

Lateralis is quite possibly my favortie song ever.

Lateralis is good, but how can it ever compete with songs like Aenima, Hush, H, Ticks and Leeches, Parabola, Prison Sex, etc ? Tool is easily one of the most influential and spectacular bands ever essembled. I don't think it is fair to have only one favorite song by them. :P

I can totally relate, but with a different song -- Parabola.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

PatientSaint

yea totally Parabola is right behind....

Every time it slowsdownthen speeds up i always think of the turn of a parabola......I dunno much as i love Parabola there is some quality about Lateralis that grabs me and speaks to me on a deeper plane.

I'm not sure how it's possible to judge the merits of something that hasn't yet been released, unless you've heard a leaked copy already. But I'll take your dare and, representing the senior citizen branch of rock fans, I'll state without hesitation that Fleetwood Mac's album Say You Will, released in April, is as good.

Indeed....but it if people wantto get all scientifically based here....

I would go on the assumption of their last album being such a work of art. Along with the first single being amazing ( in my humble opinion anyway). That it will be a great album. then again i am a big Maynard fan.....so i am totally biased :) I am more looking forward to the musical direction he's been taking specially after Lateralis...

As long as A Perfect Circle isnt mainstream linkin park/ linkin park wannabe garbage (Evanescence?), then its all good.

But any DJ Tiesto CD will blow it outta the water IMO.

No one has been able to touch the music or stage preformence of Pink Floyd (Waters/Gilmore). So to me the debate was over befor it started,

The new APC album is good (I thought it was pretty boring and bad at first, but it grows on you). Half of the songs on it are still forgettable at best, though.

But it is sad that it's one of the better albums to come out recenty :\.

I'll agree with Nothingface on his August 10th post. Killswitch Engage's new album is brutal. I wouldn't mind checking out the new Perfect Circle though. I enjoyed the last one.
