I know this is sort of a crazy subject for my very first posting on here, but I wanted to suggest a little known type of insurance called "Personal Liability Insurance."
This is not a brand name, it is a "type" of insurance, you can buy through renters, some auto insurance plans, etc., and it's usually pretty cheap. What PLI
or PUL "[personal umbrella insurance]" aims to do is to cover INDIVIDUALS, not businesses or the like, Lawsuits!!
I was once quoted one amount of $50 for 3mill of insurance.
I can't imagine any of the qualifying factors when approaching an insurance company have anything to do with "filesharing!!"

are you stating your opinion or are you making a generalized statement because half of what your saying is unclear to me or is it two opinions in one?
or are you considering that they even give liability insurance to p2p users.
what is all this based on?

CJ, I have nothing against you, you know that, but please do not try to pick apart this mans idea, he was merely throwing an idea out there to see what peoples opinions of it would be.
I think it is a somewhat good idea, though the question remains, would they cover your court costs if you happened to get sued for file sharing?

Not bob summed it up nicely, and that is how any insurance company will see it, not how we would explain it.
Ok i was going to close this now, but I will let run for a bit. just out of curiosity.

LOL Hunter, how about the burglar that sued the guy when he cut himself trying to break into the guy's house?
Or how about the college kids that got sued for allowing people to search each other's computers. With no central server, and called it a mini Napster.

I wonder how much of that stuff is real? I do feel that no insurance company is going to cover this one.
